I sent my Email to Leonora on a monday.... got an email back from a guy named Chris the same day asking for my information. I then got a call thursday from another guy (his name escapes me) who gave me the guys name at my local dealership to call to set up an appointment. 2 hrs later my dealership called ME to make an appointment. so i called on a monday...fixed for 100 bucks the following wednesday. all together took 10 days for the entire process. I got kinda lucky though i guess

i never received a response back (made the inquiry back in April 2007) but i did make a call up there today. They are covering 100% of the cost and I have to pay labor. I'm happy I made that phone call. I just have to call the service manager up and provide my last 7 of my VIN#

pixels are back.

The dealer replaced my dash board instrument cluster yesterday, I only paid for the labor. I can't believe how much I missed a few hundred pixels.

Got an email respons from Chris Halpin the next day. Faxed request info (copy of registration) and recieved a follow up call same day. Took some info from me over the phone, including dealer location, and said I will hear from them again in a few business days. All going well so far.

I think e-mailing is better, cause I couldn't wait for a response, called BMWNA, and reached some guy named Lew. Lew informed me that BMWNA was only paying 50% of the total repair, leaving me with $400+ dollar bill. So while I was discussing it another BMW owner said that BMWNA paid for his part and he only had to pay for labor. (he called BMW NA too.) He suggested that I call Lew back at BMWNA to work it out.

I tried that. Lew was very firm and unwilling to work with me, plus not to mention very annoyed and rude that I even brought it up. He only asked me three questions.

1. Where did I buy the Car. BMW Dealer
2. How long have I owned the Car. Almost 3 years
3. How many Miles are on the car. over 100k

And based off of that Information he came to the figure of 50%.

However after reading this thred, I feel like I'm being screwed.

I'm now going to e-mail Veronica and work this like a new issue. With any luck I'll get offered the same deal as everyone else. (pending there's no database that contains data about my past communication with Lew.)

So for a summary....

DON'T CALL BMWNA, because you might get Lew. If you do, he doesn't care about the customer and only offers 50% unless your car has less than 50k miles on it and is less than 3 years old. He is very Firm an annoyed to even talk with you about repairing the issue. Almost as if he were taking it personally and paying for it out of his own pocket.

Be patient with Veronica, from what I have read here, she's fair and willing to help.

I know that BMW doesn't have to extend this offer. And that what they're doing, even if they are paying 50% of the repair, is generous. However, they must know that this part isn't holding up, and that if they plan on taking responsibility, they should the same compensation to every customer.
I recently e-mailed Veronica three weeks ago. I sent an e-mail as if it were my first time contacting BMWNA. Needless to say, they're covering the FULL cluster and I just have to pay the labor.

They didn't have a record of me even contacting BMW NA the first time. Lew can kiss my (_|_), my cluster is being covered like the rest.

Thanks BMW NA!!

Smile Pixels fixed no problem

Had the the same problem and contacted MS Vlaovich. It took a couple of weeks but they did contact me and was taken care of promptly by local dealer.

Add me to the list of people who got BMWNA to pick up the parts.

BMWNA called to "interview" me and then called a few more times to tell me I was approved and then to see if I had accepted their offer and made an appointment.

My total cost was just under $100 in Houston. Thanks guys!!!

I got mine replaced at BMW Seattle. We did both the MID and dash displays. Labor was $240. Leonora took care of me on the parts which retailed for $1900!!!

More about BMW Seattle later. They flubbed a minor job and damage my MID in the process. They are in the process of making it good, though.

I'm getting my instrument cluster replaced tomorrow. $128 for one hour of labor is what I'm being charged. From the first e-mail to Leonora to getting it fixed took about 2 weeks, not too shabby.

I contacted them in april and they responded with an offer to pay half of parts only. After contacting the dealer they told me my part would be $750. I'm only missing a vertical line or two and it isn't always gone. It isn't that important to me, at least not $750 of importance.

I got mine done at BMW of Bellevue, and had the MID and the Instrument Cluster done. Parts were covered through Lenora at BMWNA (rcvd similar quote from dealership on parts cost) and I pay for labor, which was $138. Both BMWNA and BMW of Bellevue were timely and great with email and work.

I thought this was fantastic because I am the 2nd owner and the car has 85k miles on it.

Very pleased with this thread which directed me to contact BMWNA and the result of the overall process.

Good info, but too late for that now. At any rate BMW wanted to use the dealership that I have some history with, and for me that was Classic BMW. Oh well, no reason now to cry over spilled milk, right?

yes they will. BMWNA supplied the MID (my cluster is perfectly fine) and I paid a grand total of $51 and change to Stevens Creek BMW in Santa Clara.

i even got a car wash out of it.

I have sent the email to the Leonara lady several time over and I haven't recieved a response yet. Is there some type of special route I need to go in order to get some response on the dash pixel issue? Does anyone have a good number for someone else I can talk to about this? I'm in the military and I'm currently in Oklahoma, so I would like to get hooked up with a dealership in Texas. Thanks for any help I can get.

Maybe you sending the email to them several times annoyed them? Anyway, try calling the number for BMWNA in your book. I did, and didn't pay a penny to get it fixed.
