I know exactly what you mean. Anywhere I go to visit usually envolves me solving someone's computer issue, even though it's not even remotely what I do for a living. They just know I am "in computers". I have friends that are mechanics, but I never have them change my oil while we're having a beer . Not that I mind, it's great to be helpful.

I know tell me about it. If you do anything remotely tech related, you become the IT support line for friends and family. (Sad part is, we can usually solve their problems in 1/10 of the time it takes real tech support people who get paid).

My neighbor is a Civil Engineering prof here at UT.
He just graduated last year and this is his first job. I never asked, but he can't be more than 30.

A categorywhich was fatally absent that potentially has many sub-categories would be "Professional." For instance, Doctors, Attorneys, etc. This probably explains why the "Other" category had such a high percentage response...
