Key control question

Hey guys, visiting from the Z board
Quick question in the below picture I assume that this key is also used on the E46 model line
If so what can you control with the 3 fob buttons I know lock and unlock but is the 3rd button active on the E46. Example trunk opener or window roll up
On the Z only 2 buttons are used and Im wondering if the 3rd can be used for something else but was unsure what was controlled if anything on the E46 line
thanks
max

No photo?

One is for disarm/unlock/roll-down
One is for arm/diable motion sensor/lock/roll-up in europe or with iWindows
Last is for trunk release

One of these is supposed to be a panic for the alarm, but I forget which.

My 2005 e46 has a different key...still 3 buttons though.

If the key is pointing this way -> the 3 buttons are, as far as I know...

{} Truck release (BMW Roundel) Lock => Unlock

Sorry I don't have a picture...this probably doesn't make sense unless you've seen the key.

This key was only used on E46 in 99 (and some early 00, I believe) but the functions are the same.

Question. I have an early 2000 with the old key.. Could I order the newer key from the dealer?

Since the keys are supposedly all made at the same time as the car, probably not. And even if that's not the case, the car might not have the circuitry in the column to charge the new key.
