Oil level

Just did my very first oil ever yesterday!!! Things went fairly smoothly but I think i added a little too much oil. The ideal level is between the middle part of the dipstick, but mine shows approx. 3/4 way of the indicator. Is this ok or should I drain some of the new oil out?

Are you saying the oil is to the blue arrow?
If so that is where it should be. If anything its a 1/8 - 1/16 quart low.

If the oil level is anywhere on that block in the middle, then you are in the "OK" range, though if it is below the middle, you'll start seeing the "low oil light" come on when you start or shutdown the engine.

I usually get the new filter soaked with new oil, then put in 6 quarts, then run the engine for a while and see where the oil level comes out and top it off if needed. Then over the next couple of days I keep checking an top it off as necessary, just to be sure.
