Hmm.. looks like they softened a lot of the eye-grabbing shapes on the car and lost some junk in the bangle butt trunk.

Looks a bit more Japanese car style to me now at first glance.... The light fixtures look like they shrunk... to the point where they look a bit misplaced... But overall I think the smoother lines are nice.

Dual Projector Headlamps?

Picture shows high beams and low beams with projectors. Wonder if they will both be HID?

I almost hate to say it, but this 7 doesn't look that bad:

I think that the headlights look like they are from an infiniti i30 though.

Itis a big improvement. On the other hand I hated the 7 so much that anything would have been. I am trying to figure out how I wold have reacted if this had been the first release. I think I would have thought of it as OK rather than stunning. This is also what they have to go to market with against the new S Class. Tough battle.

I have to say, I like the restyle... it retains the massive pressence of the 7, without the eye-brow raising details of the trunk-within-a-trunk rear and the awkward appearance of the front lights... though I think they could have made the front lights a little more aggressive.

I've always like the interior... beautiful. Does anyone know if the iDrive interface has become more user friendly?

Any word of an AWD variant?

i would agree with the general consensus

front light treatment much better with this refresh

but does anyone else prefer the rear tail light treatment before the refresh?

I think the refresh is pretty minimum. I am not sure it will address the complaints that many have had - I for one do not dislike the current E65. I like the modified headlights. They look more aerodynamic without being too different to alienate the current owners.

I am not feeling the front bumper and the HUGE tail-light extensions on the trunklid though.

I like it. I'm glad they updated the rear end. IMO it looks alot better. I am NOT liking the wheels though.

The rear looks pretty Japanese. It's a bit reminiscent of the 97-01 Q45. The reversed slope of the inner side of the headlights really helps do away with the Dame Edna look. And the ugly cutouts in the bumper for the headlights is a HUGE improvement. The taller, less stretched-out looking kidneys also make a big difference. I even like the wheels. They're reminiscent of the ones that came on US-spec E38 750s.

This is what this car should have looked like 3 years ago.

To me, the most important thing that I noticed is something that I don't think anyone else pointed out. Look at the pic of the center stack which shows the CD player. Below it, you see two new buttons: they read "MODE" and "FM AM", which I find to be a great sign. One of my only complaints about iDrive has been the complex procedures sometimes needed to do simple radio functions. It now looks like BMW has realized this, too, and is looking to make some changes along the way.

I like the new front! Much better than the current style.

The rear lights look very nice, though I'm still not a fan of the trunk lines. (Looks like a curvy rear end with a slightly smaller box ram into it to make the Bangle butt)

Now BMW just needs to get someone else to change the interior of all their recent designs.

Good catch Sarafil. That is a big improvement indeed. Similar to how adding a "menu" button to the iDrive in 04 was a significant move forward.
