Which one car would to choose to replace?

Since we might be expecting another addition to our family, 330i might be too small for two babies.

Would you get rid of a 5spd step or a 6spd manual 330? We are thinking of either a used 540iT or used 4.4i X5 to replace the 330i. I am leaning toward X5 but my wife doesn't like SAV type vehicle, so 540iT is her favorite. If only I can convince her to go for a used 4.6i X5, that would be worth it to trade either 5spd or 6spd for.

Persoanally, I'd look for a used 540iT. However, the 4.6i X5 looks pretty damn sweet (especially the 4.8s) but the cargo space in an X5 (with the back seat in upright position) is somewhat limited for an SUV.

I would always want to keep the manual, but of course, that's my opinion. The 6spd is much more fun to drive. Might as well enjoy it!

The Touring has more space behind the back seat than the X5. That is probably important when carrying around small children and all their accoutrement.

I think we are only getting the 530xiT in North America.

I'd go with the X5, but I may be biased... I loved mine to death. I prefer the high seating position of the X5, you can see easier which is good in traffic and on the Interstate you can see farther aheadm which I like. I've never driven the 5er touring model, so I wouldn't know much about that. All I can say is I really, highly recommend the X5. I had a 4.4i..... It was a great car, plenty of power and very fast and fun to drive.

I`ve driven both, and my choice would be the 540iT....I like the looks better, it`s got near-perfect weight distribution, lower CG, better ride, about the same utility factor (if AWD is not an issue, judging by your locale, I would`nt think it is). Also, it`s a vehicle that you don`t see at every traffic light....

Regards,
Bob

No, I don't mean to imply that Raffi is stupid! I agree with Raffi's post.
