XM Radio no more?

Hey guys, I was wondering if Xm is no longer an option and whether BMW is now going with Sirius. I don't see XM as an option anywhere on the e90.

I didn't know XM was ever an option for BMW. They inked a deal with Sirius. But don't fret... it looks like the two networks have been holding merger talks.

XM never was an option on BMWs. But you can get a device called XM Direct which plugs directly into the Sirius input on stock BMW headunits and works as if it were the Sirius OE unit (except receiving XM of course).

I would expect that this unit would work on the E90 as it does on current BMW headunits.

I must be losing my mind. I thought I remembered both. Oh well.

It doesn't work on cars w/ NAV. Also, is the E90 still i-bus or is it MOST like the new 5? If it isn't i-bus, the current XM Direct unit won't work.

that's too bad (not sure why I think it is since I don't own a bimmer ) ... I like the comedy channels on XM better then Sirius ... it would be great if they merged but wouldn't that be like cablevision merging with satellite tv

Except that you don't have to go through your dealer (as the official XM site suggests). I understand it to be an easy DIY and you can get the equipment here- http://www.xmfanstore.com/showproduct.php?id=xmdirect

Yes, but I mailed ordered from a BMW dealer and go mine for $259 instead of the $299 list price. The cheapest I had seen elsewhere had been $279.

Extremely easy self install.

Edit: The dealer I ordered from was BMW of Sterling, VA.

The real answer is to have a head unit/receiver that gets both satellite networks.

But in the end, the denials, imo, are nothing more than rumors of the truth.

I think all new BMW's will be MOST bus, I believe that this extends to the E90 as well,
