"Special" radio?
I have to hand it to my dealer, they didn't even blink when I brought my car in to get the stereo fade issue fixed. They did what diagnostics that were necessary and told me it would be taken care of. Here's the interesting thing, They've only done one other and it wasn't Nav equiped, so with mine they had order a "Special" new radio and head unit from Germany. No one there could tell me what was "special" about it and what would be different from the one I had. Well, it only took 4 days for the radio to come in, but I have to wait until the 22nd to get it swapped. Anyone have an experience like this and know what is Special about the replacement? Maybe this one will play Mp3's....

Hmm, I don't know what would be different about this "new" radio. You have a 2005 car, so it should have had already the latest radio available. I think Nav-equipped cars don't work with MP3's anyway, so I don't think you'll be in luck, sorry.

I agree I had the problem on my 2005 325i as well. I showed the TSB to the service manager and he ordered the radio right away. It took only one week and the install was done in 25 minutes. I think the only difference in the radio is software. It definitely fixed the fading in and out problem....
