I dont post often but Id like to know if any others have had their draveshaft suddenly (and I do mean suddenly!) just drop out, I was at an intersection (stopped) and was
pulling onto a 2 lane roadway when all of the sudden it felt like I hit a boulder, crunch clang bang etc.. The car would not move, it would go into gear but there was a God-awful crunching noise when it did. We were in a very dangerous position (look up my previous posts as this wasnt the 1st time) and had to get the car off the road, some good guys stopped and we pushed the car back (front wheel locked up and all) and got it off the road. The car had the tranny replaced last March (recall) and I wonder if they put the new one in correctly. The service man said the bolts vibrated loose and at this time doesnt know if the tranny was damaged. We no longer (especially the wife) trust this car, its an 330XI with 14K miles and these things should not happen. PS My "adventure" with BMW roadside assistance is another story. (4 hour wait!) in a heavily populated area is absurd!!!!

Yikes sounds like they screwed up when replacing the tranny in March. Good thing you were not on the highway when the driveshaft dropped.
I would be seriously pissed! |
