BMWNA keeps sending me 'The Hire'

I got my first copy as part of the new owner package they send out. I got the second for being a member of Owner's Circle (I got $44 for that one on Ebay last week). Now, I just got my first issue of BMW magazine, and there is a reply card to get another DVD!

Apparently, there are enough Madonna freaks out there to keep the prices up on 'The Hire' .

Why would anyone spend that amount on a DVD? I walked into my local BMW dealer (not where I got my car) and asked for one.

How long did it take to get your first BMW Magazine?

I sent it my card about 4 months ago and haven't received anything yet.

I think the problem with people on eBay is they have complete tunnel vision. No one bothers to check for alternate sources for the items posted there, and they just assume they are getting a great deal if they get The Hire for only $44 when it just went for $50 last week! Spiderm0n's gotta be loving that.

I'm waiting to see if they'll send it to me in the new owner's package as well. I already picked one up from the dealer, so maybe I can make a quick $40+ as well.

How do I get the BMW Magazine? I'm a member of the owner's circle and I've had my car serviced at my local BMW dealer so they have my name and address.

TDM3, you should get a DVD player. They are a great toys. You can get a decent one for litttle money and they even play MP3's.

The secret to improving the look of an auction is to use HTML. I've found, though, that it doesn't really matter how your auction looks. As long as you have enough feedbacks (say more than 10) and the keywords are in the title ("BMWFilms The Hire DVD"), then you'll get plenty of bids. Be sure to also mention each of the directors and stars in the auction body, so people searching for films by Guy Ritchie, for instance, will see your auction.

The only pet peeve I have is when people don't use the paragraph and list functionality of HTML in their auctions. Have you guys ever seen those auctions for like 50 paperbacks, and they're just all run together, word wrapping down the page? Eesh!

TD, it's really easy. I had never sold anything on EBAY before. I just blatently copied the verbage of the other HIRE auctions, which appears to be what everyone does

here are the current open auction for the HIRE:

Feel free to copy my eBay listing word for word. I sold 5 of them for $50 a piece.

Just had a son. He will be 2 months old on Dec. 26 so I know what you mean. Of course he isn't walking or using the remote yet but it is only a matter of time. I do get to watch TV but a lot of time it is hard to get through a whole 30 min. program without being interupted.

I didn't think I would ever want a DVD but my parents bought me one last Christmas and it is great. Special features are neat and animated movies look awesome on it and DVD's take up a lot less room than VHS tapes.

Good luck with your daughter.

Good thing you have a cable modem with all the posting you do! With dial up you wouldn't be at the top of the list!

That was my one concern - I have 0 feedback. But it didn't seem to scare off the bidders. I just haven't found that much on Ebay that I want to buy (not that I look much). And after I sold the HIRE DVD, I was ready to sell more stuff, but couldn't think of one thing to put on there!

Hey now, when I got my 10 DVDs, it was rare.

If you had DVDs to sell about 3 weeks before I did, the DVDs sold for $100+ each!

I was at the Ultimate Driving Experience a few months back, and BMW had a huge box of the DVDs sitting there for the taking. I asked for a bunch, and was given 10.

I kept 5 and gave them away on bimmer.org a few months ago, and sold 5 on eBay.

Do you want one? I have exactly 1 extra here. Drop me an email, and I'll send it your way.

Don't forget the $50 JP!

Seriously though, over on hometheaterforum.com there was a thread about The Hire. Canadians were saying that their dealers had none, and BMWNA was refusing to ship to them. Apparently this is a U.S. only promotion. Kinda sucks for our friendly neighbors to the north.
