Getting my 4.8is lowered tomorrow... Some Questions

Sup guys

I am taking my car to the dealer tomorrow and my friend whos a BMW tech is going to lower it using the DIS computer.

I was wondering how low can I go.. I want it to be as low as possible without doing damage to the car. I was told if I go too low I can blow the shocks and whatnot.

I want it to be just a little bit lower then the lowest height setting when you put the air suspension down. Maybe an inch lower all around that would be perfect for me. Do you guys think thats too low? If possible I would like to go 2 inches lower then the bottom setting. Thanks guys

Well just don't go too low, I mean you don't want it to look like one of those low riding pickup trucks. It is still an SUV.

I got mine lowered last week by 25mm (f) and 20mm (b) and I liked the difference right then but the very next day I thought it was still too high. Don't know how much more you can go, though. Let us know what you find out. Don't forget to check alignment afterwards. Mine was off a little. Good luck.

Somebody told me that you can only lower the rear using DIS. Can you lower the front as well?

Your 4.8 has full air suspension so yes both front and rear can be lowered by DIS.

Post pics when you're done....

I've always worried that lowering the X too much would make it look like a mini-van

Personally, I think the OE sport suspension makes it low enough. The 4.8is though with the air suspension, no clue about that. Definitly post pics when you are finished... and don't forget about sending those 4.8 20s my way when you get the 4.6 wheels

Just make sure you watch them lowering it if you can. You I am sure what every decision you make will be great. I mean you have already made a ton of great desisions. (Like Buying the X5 4.8 vs M3)
Good luck!!

I think it'll be all right. I'm sure your dealer/tech can work with you in terms of specifically how low you want to go.

Would like to see some pics of the drop, DropTop.

How do you adjust the size of a photo to fit the Avatar requirements?

Download this program - http://www.irfanview.com/

It does a great job of resizing images

Thanks very much. I will keep this in mind when I use some photo on the Windows side of my Mac. Resizing images was the key word that seemed stuck in my brain. It triggered
the proper search language (import) needed to do the job
in iPhoto. Took all of 2 seconds. Love it.
