Snap-in adapter now available for Motorola v710 ...

I hear you have to hack the phone and I also hear there are some issues with this phone but for those of you that may want the adapter, here's the part no. 84 21 0 393 570

I'm thinking of picking this phone up for use with my '05 4.4 X5 (includes BMW Assist w/Bluetooth). I thought the problems were related to the service provider (Verizon?). Anybody try it with another provider (eg. Canucks using Telus or Rogers?), or is this truly a phone problem? Thanks.

It's not a phone problem, it is a problem with how the service provider instructed Motorola to configure the phone. Not confirmed, but I think Sprint may have done the same thing as Verizon to inhibit the key BT features that keep it from working with the BMW ULF.

Not sure about some of the Canadian providers.....

Makes sense...thanks. I guess I could ask Telus/Rogers directly, or maybe they'll let me try activating the phone and pairing it under the condition that if it doesn't work (auto download phonebook, etc.) then I can return it. If nobody else has tried it, I guess I'll be the first to report back to this forum...

Why don't you try the V620, an updated version of the V600 that is fully compatible.

V620

I'd like to...I've heard it's a great phone, but the selection of bluetooth enabled phones by Telus (and Rogers) here in Alberta are brutally thin. Basically just the v710 for Telus (my current service provider) and the v551, Nokia 6820 and Sony T637 for Rogers.

My X5 doesn't show up until mid-April, so I might hang tight to see if the selection gets better, maybe including the new V3.

The phones you buy from carriers are indeed limited but you can always buy cell phones that are unlocked (independent from any carrier). They are more expensive this way but you have a greater selection.

Try this seller out. I've bought from him before.

Rogers has the Motorola V600! I am positive and have personally seen it there. They even let me test it with my vehicle. However I wasn't willing to sign a contract and so bought mine off ebay. Works great with my X5 and the snap-in adapter.

hmmm...I've never bought a phone from an independent before, thanks for the link. Looks like I'll have to do some more research as the selection of BT phones is MUCH better. Like King, I want to avoid a term contract if possible so this might be a good route.

I know that BT is sexy. If you must use VZ, it may never work. An alternative and my speculation is that I should be able to use the V710 in lieu of the V60 in a CPT9000 arrangement.
