Mein Auto: 1997 Z3
unknown noise

I have a 1997 Z3 .it seems like when the weather temperature gets up over 30 degree Celsius, and I have driven a bit and the car has reached operating temperature.i'll turn the car off and when i start it up shortly after and start to drive there is a faint growl noise coming from somewhere. Can't tell if it is engine or drive train and only is there while driving. Is there something that kicks in when hot weather, like a turbo fan or something that would make this change in the sound of the car.?
