Racing my X5?

I have been very good with my new X5. I don't want any tickets but tonight some guy tried to squeeze me out of my lane by passing me on the right with a GMC Denali in the rain no less. I could hear him step on it and something said we are not going to let this happen tonight.

Yes I left him in the dust (ooops Rain dust that is) as my wife screemed WHAT ARE YOU DOING? She was mad I was thrilled, it was worth it. Don't mess with the X5.

probably not the most intelligent thing to race in the rain with your wife in the X IMO.

Only time I would race anyone on the street is when nobody else is in my ride...but thats just me.

i've had that happen a couple of times. i just don't get it. it's not like i'm out instigating it, but it's fun leaving them in the dust.

Next time, take it to the track, like I did!

That used to happen to me all the time. People probably don't think that a big SUV (sorry, SAV) can move like the X5 can.

Yeah your probably right except she use to own a charger, and a firebird so she
has had her moments also. She got over it quickly.

Maybe he was trying to pass a slower-moving vehicle? Really it's no big deal to be passed from the right. Next time either let him pass or move over to the right lane. Accelerating to prevent someone from passing you is downright dangerous. Haven't you heard of roadrage? You never know, there could be a wacko in the other vehicle.

Passing on the right is illegal around here and a BIG pet peeve of mine. People always try to gun it off the line from the extreme right turn lane at a traffic light then cut over at the last minute right before the lane ends to get in front. VERY annoying. They can wait lawfully in line like everyone else I say! I've been known to block their attempts in the past I must say.

I appreciate the advice however passing on the right as he did is not wise. No he was not trying to pass a slower-moving vehicle. and no again there was no way to move over to the right lane. First of all It's a two lane left turn then the right lane merges into the left lane after the left turn. By all accounts since i'm already making a left turn in the left turn lane and he was already behind me in the right lane making the same left turn his intententions were already clear. Accelerating to cut someone off when your lane is merging into the left turn lane is even more dangerous on the road in question. He got what he deserved. Hey you never know though maybe i'm the wacko. ( just kidding)

People often do that on that street and often find them selves looking at someone elses rear end as the person in front of them turns into a gas station from that lane. By the time you get past those driveways the right lane he was in is already history so the only thing you can do is drop back and get behind the car in front of you or try what he did. HE LOST. Actually it's amusing that people are in such a hurry to get to the next signal.

Do I race it?

I think it races me. I can feel my entire body trembling, even just a bit whenever I hear the V8 woofle. Coming from a LS400, this truck is fast, even at a red light.

But, I need new tires. These POS Michelin Energy's cannot keep their grip on turns >= 40mph. I had them on the LS400 and they lost their grip right when it started getting wet.

I guess Im getting old... I would much rather be at home drinking my hot chocolate out of the rain than spending the night in the hospital or six feet under. God forbid I should kill and innocent just to prove that my one is bigger than his?

If you gotta get this out of your system, take it to the track.

Awhhhh Dennis; your trying to take all the fun out of life. Not sure what you mean though when you say "just to prove that my one is bigger than his" I thought we were talking about racing :-). (By the way it was a very short race)
