starter motor rebuild
My dad has an '85 528e 5-spd (it might be a 535 but cannot recall).
Anyhow the starter is non-functional. It clicks (solenoid) but no crank. +12v at both wires to starter assembly. Hence problem is internal. We are well electrically and mechanically inclined. Rather than buying a rebuild or risking a used junked one, we thought to go get the rebuild kit at the dealer and just do it. This is assuming the problem is just motor brushes or something common to the kit. Q: Has anyone used the bmw rebuild kit for the starter? Any words of wisdom? What comes with the kit? I believe I once checked and it was considerably less priced than buying an already rebuilt unit from a rebuilder... Let me know . Thanks! Greg Mustang Montreal Canada |
