Unhappy e46 Coupe vs e90

OK, so I waited too long to order what i wanted, a new e46 sedan. I don't hate the new e90, kind of interesting look, but I really wish I'd gone with the classic look of the e46. That said, I'm debating whether to buy the e90 or just get an e46 coupe. I hate the thought of not having 4 doors, but the coupe is still in the current style which I prefer. Any thoughts? Also, is there the same leg room in the rear of the e46 coupe as there is in the e46 sedan? Thanks!

if you really want a 4 door, then get a CPO four door. If you get the coupe, I feel you will end up hating it everytime you have move the seat to let someone in the back seat.

I agree...you could probably find an '02 or '03 out there and not have to compromise. Also, how specific are your options? I'm sure you could find something close to what you want although it may not be exactly what you want. There is still inventory out there but it is dwindling.

Do a dealer inventory search for the E46 you wanted. You never know, it might exist somewhere in the country and you could then get it shipped to you.

I have a coupe and don't find it a problem at all. I was in the back yesterday afternoon cleaning the seats, and there's tons of legroom for me, even behind the driver's seat - I'm 6'2" and long in the leg.

The sedan has slightly more room in the back seat then the coupe, but if you're regularly going to be transporting 4 adults I think you need a 5 series. I got the sedan because I have two young children which I didn't want to deal with getting them in and out of a car seat in the back of the coupe. Once my kids get old enough to get in and out of the back seat themselves I'm getting a coupe. I love the look of the coupe.

Surely not every sedan has been sold. Of course if you are looking for an odd color combo...

The local BMW dealer here in Boston (Herb Chambers) has like 20 330s on their website. Certainly it's not too late to pick one up.

Just go to Carsdirect - they'll find it for you for $900 over invoice, almost $7000 off sticker.

04/05 Sedan Inventory Low?!

I don't know about your area, but one large dealer in particular (Erhard) in Farmington Hills, Michigan, has a *ton* of brand new E46 sedans, 325's, 330's, all range of options. I'd estimate they have at least fifty on their lot (as of yesterday when I walked it).

In fact, i'm wondering how they're going to sell all those by end of April....they have rows and rows, all colours.....

Thanks everyone! If I can't find the e46 sedan I want, I'm seriously considering getting the e46 coupe. I thought I needed the 4 doors of a sedan, but most of the time it'll be me and one passenger, and I'm still liking the overall styling of the e46 to the e90. Does anyone know if the back windows on a coupe open? I seem to remember being in a friend's 328 coupe and you couldn't open the back windows. Thanks again!

The back windows do open. They don't roll down though. They move outward a few inches in the back. An electric motor opens them but the switches are between the front seats on the console so a back seat passenger may not realize they can be opened.

They open. Not down like the front windows but the angle out from the back. They are power too, one touch open. Sadly on the US models they are not one-touch close. I view them more as venting then opening.

thanks all

Thanks everyone! Especially you James for the cool pics. I went to look at a coupe today. Sweet, but no discount and I have a gut feeling I'm going to want those extra 2 doors, but it's a sweet machine!

you won't miss the doors, i constantly drive around 4 people in my coupe and never complain about having to get out to empty the back seat. just make them all get out the passenger side and make your passenger seat-sitter suffer but seriously, coupes have plenty of leg room, depeds if you want a sport sedan or sport coupe. coupe always seemed more sporty to me
