Porsche's official acceleration numbers are notoriously conservative... so whatever concerns there are with 'padding' their 0-60 times, etc are in error.

Again, a race between two cars also involves two drivers, and driver's skill is the crucial element, even in mindless straighline racing. A missed shift, etc.

And the Porshce was not appropriately broken in.

No flamming though on the ZHP with S/C, esp. with at least an additional 70hp in light of it's weight... definitely would accelerate like crazy after 60mph.

Was happy with my 3 series We didn't have the chance to go to high of speeds, we will try it at the track this weekend and do the quarter mile but until 130 the BMW kept the Porsche Carrera S in it's rear view Mirror the whole time

Maybe he had tiptronic? That should slow the Porsche down a bit.

What does the manual say? We may be picking nits here but I go by the manual...true, the engines are "broken-in" at the factory...if I remember correctly the entire break-in done by the factory is done in 20 minutes. But the manual still states 1000-1400 miles (depending upon model) before revving in excess of 4k rpms and to vary the speed on a regualr basis during that period. It must state that in the manual for some reason.
