Navi Screen Photo?
1) Does anyone know if there is a way to replace the "BMW" when the navi screen comes on with a photo of, say, Alfred Hitchcock or my dog?
2) Is there a way to stop it from asking me to "Accept" the nav system terms every single time the car starts? I'm sure BMW's lawyers like it but it's really too much. NJR |

Good one! There is some trick, like installing the Euro English software, then back to the American...etc... searching may help.Quote:

The software needs to be set to UK spec. That will avoid the "Idiot Screen" and give you short distances in yards rather than feet. When I retrofitted my Nav system (Mk IV) it came up in that mode -- I was happy! I have seen info to the effect that you can go back to an older software and then upgrade to the latest one and that will set you to UK spec, but I've never needed to try it.
Check out the Yahoo group "bmwnav" for more stuff.

2) Change the Nav region to UK by installing an old Nav firmware version and then reinstalling your current (or newer) firmaware version. Your Nav will come back in the UK region with no "Accept" screen. However, the distance units will be in yards instead of feet. |

I've asked Alpina if it was possible to have the Alpina logo instead of that BMW text. Unfortunately it's not. At least they can't do it, nor BMW. The guys over at www.openbmw.org are trying (or already hacked) hack some NAV stuff.
