good deal?
Hey everyone...I am thinking about getting a CPO BMW 325ci. Just graduated and it will be my first car purchase and I was wondering if you all could tell me if I am getting a good deal or not. Details are:
2002 325ci with 45,090 miles black metallic exterior paint grey interior leather with the wood trim sport package premium package steptronic xenons spolier moonroof dual power seats was originally sold feb 2002 so 1 year and a little less then 5000 miles left on the original warranty and then the 6 year 100,000 cpo warranty kicks in. negotiated it down to $24,695... i want to join the fest!! is this a good deal? car seems very clean..no scratches at all...no wrinkles in the leather.. also offering 3.9% apr if i want to finance. thanks! |

What are they selling new ones for? How far can you get those down? The advantage of new would be the maintenance package. Now, remember that dealers will be trying to off load the E46 soon so they don't compete with the E90. That should make for some competetive pricing. I don't think the CPO lot will see the same urgency to sell, frankly. I could be wrong, however.

I'm not sure really what to compare it to or if its a good deal or not but I also looked into a new one and with the same options the sticker price was ridiculous....$39395....but they have a $2000 off deal...which brought it down to $37,395....and i haggled it down to $36,500...they also have a special going on as far as leasing goes...i think it ended up being around $450 a month for the lease of 12,000 miles a year...which definetely won't be enough for me..
also thinking about it...the coupe version of the e90 still won't be coming out for a while though right? i remember reading on another topic somewhere that its going to be released much later (a year?) then the sedan? maybe thats why they weren't giving me such a great deal on a new one... Well, looks like you tried. That does seem to be a decent price, from what I can tell. As long as you go into it with open eyes, and are prepared for some maintenance costs, you should be fine. Bottom line, do YOU think it's a good deal? Is the price something you are comfortable with, and still be able to afford the standard of living you desire? That's the best way to beat buyer's remorse.
Enjoy your new ride!

Get them to throw in the extended maintenence...it usually costs about $1,000 and is worth every penny. If they won't throw it in, get them to contribute to the cost. This will protect you from basically all costs (except tires) up to 100k.

I got mine about a year ago and it was an 01 325i. 24k for the CI at the dealer before negotiations. I opted to get a private party 325i with sports and paid 19k! If you buy from the dealer you paid too much. Make sure you get alot of "free" cofee and doughnuts because you bought them! If you just graduated, maybe you should save up for one. The last thing I would want to be in is more debt after college. How about a civic? Then in three years you could get the M3, because that is what you wanted anyway! You are too young to start sinking into debt. Don't do it. You can thank me later. Buy a house not a car. |

Yeah,just like the ML series....JUNK !!!!!
Looked at the ML (SUV) series for MB,everything looks cheap from the outside bumpers to the plastic buttons inside to the dash...JUNK.So we bought a X5 with the 4.6L More expensive, but the quality shines through.

i took my more experienced brother with me after work and they did end up throwing in the maintenence too!!...thanks so much for suggesting it...i didn't even know they could do that...i was thinking of other cars..but i'm 23...3 series just feels right for me...i don't feel i'm "distinguished" enough to drive a 5 series or an S class...as far as the price goes my price max was 25k...honestly i have been looking a while for some private party deals but i haven't really found anything in good shape in the houston metro area...and also i noticed most private party sellers don't or can't really finance...would rather have cash....so i caved in and signed everything and earned a bunch of frequent flier miles with my down payment...they said they need to detail it etc and will have it ready tommorow...its nothing special as far as how it look compared to some of the crazy incredible m3's i've seen in these forums but i'll post some pics anyways..
thanks everyone for all your help...this forum is bad a$$

wow dude, car looks kick ass. I'm in the same situation, computer science major in same town as my parents. I'm moving out AFTER I pay my car off though. Parents are letting me do that (and want me to), it lets me get my dream car (a 2005 330CIC, jet black) without getting into debt over it (with a monthly payment on top of a house).
Get that spoile roff clean and that car will look mad sexy, son. -ELmO

Sweet ride had one previously myself, seems like you got a slam dunk deal since they threw in the maintenance warranty. Enjoy the car and if i were you i would take the spoiler off it does take away from the sleek sexy image of the coupe.
