Bluetooth Question (dealer says I gotta bring her in)

I called my dealer today and told my sales rep. if he had my bluetooth "Pass Key" with the X. I asked him he had it and he asked me that when my 2005 X5 was built. I told him around October. He verifed that by checking on his comp and told me that it was built at the end of october. He askedme to bring my X in to the tech. and get it checked out.

1)I was wondering when you press the R/T button on the steering wheel and it says "Activate Phone", does that verify you have bluetooth?

2)Also I tried to check in the drivers side rear compartment and I did saw a box tilted with a wire going in like a USB. I was wondering weather that is the bluetooth module?

3)Can I do anything about the bluetooth if I did not get it if I was supposed to? Can the dealer provide me with a module or do the retrofit?

Here is the the location of the bluetooth module in the trunk and what it looks like. From your descrition it sounds like you already have it.

The BMW Assist module in MY04 and MY05 will look very similar to the Bluetooth module. The Bluetooth ULF module has one input for the Bluetooth antenna on one end (opposite from the other end where you plug the big harness into) where as the BMW Assist module will have 3.

If you have Premium Package on your MY05 X5, you should have BMW Assist with Bluetooth. See link below from BMW NA website regarding Bluetooth:
