2005 x5 and old 6 cd changer

i am getting 2005 x5 without the premium sound system but with a navigation system. my question is i have a friend who is willing to give me a older bmw 6 cd changer part # 82 11 1 469 404. i was wondering if this would be compatible with my new x5.

I moved my cd changer from my '01(non-nav) to my '05(nav). Same situation as you, no problems, works fine.

Stupid noob question, after I connect the changer what do I push on the dash to get it to recognize the changer and this disc's? I recently bought a changer, plugged it in, went up to the dash pushed the mode button and all it said was 'No Discs'.

A stupid question back at you...did you put any discs in the changer when you saw the "No Discs" message? The mode button should cycle through all your different audio accessories (Radio/indash CD/CD Changer/AUX). Note that the MID should display "TR??" for the indash CD player and "CD?-??" for the changer.
