Dealer activated functions

When I asked my dealer about functions I would like activated he told me to go through the owners manual to determine what functions I desired and bring her back in. Unfortunately they are spread out throught the manual, so I developed a single list (I found 22 items). Thought it may help others: It is also attached in "word".

BMW X3 Settings/functions available
* denotes equipment optional

1 Page 18 Central Locking System
-The concept
You can have acknowledgement signal set to confirm the vehicle is correctly locked

2 Page 19 Opening and closing from Outside
-Using the remote control
As a reminder that the ignition Key is still in the ignition lock after you open the driver’s door, you can have a signal set.

3 Page 19 Opening and closing from Outside
-Convenience opening mode
Press and hold the "up arrow” button. The windows and the sliding panel of the panorama glass roof are opened. Press the "up arrow" button a second time and hold. The panorama glass roof is opened. You may have this function set on a vehicle-specific basis if you wish.

4 Page 19 Opening and closing from Outside
-Locking and Securing
If you desire, the vehicle locks automatically if no door or lid is opened after unlocking. You may have this function set on a vehicle-specific basis if you wish.

5 Page 19 Opening and closing from Outside
-Unlocking Tailgate
If you desire, the tailgate can only be opened using the remote control if the vehicle is unlocked. This can be adjusted.

6 Page 20 Opening and closing from Outside
- Using the door lock
You can have a signal set to confirm that the vehicle’s locks have engaged securely.

7 Page 20 Opening and closing from inside
The central locking system locks automatically after driving off. This can be adjusted to be vehicle-specific or key-specific.

8 Page 25 Alarm System*
- Arming and disarming the alarm system
You can have different acknowledgment signals set to confirm arming and disarming.

9 Page 25 Alarm System*
- Avoiding unintentional alarms
If you wish, the tilt alarm sensor and interior motion sensor are permanently switched off. You can have this set at your BMW Sports Activity center.

10 Page 30 Seat and Mirror memory*
You can have your vehicle programmed to automatically dial in your own individual adjustment settings for the seat and exterior mirror position whenever you use your personal remote control to unlock the vehicle.

11 Page 32 Automatic curb Monitor
You can have the angle of downward tilt set in dependence on the key used.

12 Page 47 Computer
-Mode selection
If you desire, you can display the following functions in a different unit (Fahrenheit/ Celsius, Gallons/Liters, 12hr/24hr).

13 Page 48 Ice Warning
After an ice warning has been issued. The display returns to the previous setting. You can have this activated or deactivated.

14 Page 49* Park Distance Control PDC*
-Automatic Mode
You can have a signal tone programmed into the system to verify that the PDC is active.

15 Page 57 Lamps
-Pathway lighting
When you activate the headlamp flasher after parking the vehicle and switching off the lamps, the low beams will come on for a brief period. You may have this function deactivated if you wish.

16 Page 57 Lamps
-Daytime running lights*
You can have the daytime driving lamp circuit activated on your vehicle.

17 Page 57 Lamps
You can have the sensitivity of the headlamp control adjusted.

18 Page 58 Interior lamps
If you desire, the interior lamps are switched on after mechanical unlocking of the vehicle. You may have this function activated/deactivated if you wish.

19 Page 59 Switching the interior lamps on and off
You can have soft dimming of the interior lamps set.

20 Page 61 Rear Window Defroster
You can have your vehicle programmed in such a way that the rear window defroster switches on automatically. It is then switched on at outside temperature of less than approx. 4C/39F within 5 minutes of engine start.

21 Page 64 Automatic Climate System*
-A congenial climate
Your vehicle had been designed to automatically select your personal climate control settings whenever you unlock the doors using your individually programmed remote control. If you want you can have this function deactivated.

-Rear Window Defroster
You can have your vehicle programmed in such a way that the rear window defroster switches on automatically. It is then switched on at outside temperature of less than approx. 4C/39F within 5 minutes of engine start.

awesome info, thanks very much. just ordered my 3.0i, will have to get the auto locking doors and flashing lights on locking programmed when i get mine in late april.

as a side note my old '99 saab 9-5 used to switch on the rear defroster automatically too when it got cold. i thought it was a cool feature at the time. pity the power steering, driver's window, battery, lcd displays and other things all failed otherwise i might not be a bmw owner now!

has anyone with a car which does not have xenons managed to have the day running light feauture activated?

Also has anyone with automatic folding mirrors managed to have the setting applied which means they fold when you lock car and unfold when you unlock? The feature is listed on my printout as per email above but the techs can't get it to work.

Thanks

Bryce

Just got my X3 today. I would love this function and asked my salesperson about it and he said it wasn't possible. Would love to hear otherwise so I can forced them to get it done.

No, you must use convenience close via the key hole. To lock, put your key into the door and turn clockwise and hold for a few seconds. The power mirrors (if equipped) will fold and the windows will go up. The next time you unlock, the mirrors will automatically unfold.

DRLs have nothing to do with what type of headlight installed.

After this is done, will they also unfold using the remote next time to open?

Yes. Are you turning the key clockwise (to the right) to lock? The windows should roll UP, not down.

They do both as stated.

I was hoping the mirrors would also fold and unfold.

So, when you turn the key in the keyhole right to lock and hold it there, do the windows go up at all?

I believe MPBX3 and I are having the same experience. YES, when we turn the key the windows go up all the way; however, the mirrors do not fold close.

Explanations for setting

Is there a document anywhere that explains the dealer programmed functions? I know that some of them are explained in the manual, but a number of the functions on the form from the dealer do not seem to be in there. Specifically, the ventilation settings and the tailgate locking options. On my X3 I cannot open the tailgate with the remote unless the doors are already unlocked. I see the "Open Tailgate" function, but do I wnat it Active or Not Active?

Dealer informed me, for the liftgate to open from the remote, you must press and hold the button for 3 seconds.
