Question When to expect MY 2006 X5 4.8is?

Hi folks,

Just curious, when can we expect the launch of the MY 2006 X5 4.8is? September or earlier? Are there any info/rumours about new options like Comfort Access etc.?

Any hints are appreciated!

Expect it much later than normal. I've heard that they'll be closing the Spartanburg plant late this year to change the layout of the assembly line. We already know that the 2005 Z4 will be made through mid-November, and that the 2006 will start production in January 2006. Based on the fact that they are closing down the entire plant to consolidate onto one assembly line, I'd also assume that the X5 will have a similar production schedule.

Speaking of the 4.8is....and I don't know much about this, but won't they put the new V8 from the 750i in the 4.4i (360hp)....and isn't that about the HP of the current 4.8is? It seems like they have to go 400HP or more if they want to have a real M-version X car.

They will not drop the "new" engines into the current body-style X5. They will be used in the next generation version.

SARAFIL is correct. They will not put the new engines in the X5 until the next gen comes out ETA 2007. The Z4 will get the new motors for 2006. The 5 and the 6 series will also get the new 4.8 motor for 2006 in Sep/Oct... as a 550i and a 650Ci... they will rock!

(Sorry in advance to the original poster for going off-topic...)

Is it safe to assume from your location that you work for the UAG store in San Diego?

(Sorry as well... )

NEVER! I couldn't possibly cope with UAG's strict corporate structure. I'm at Cunningham BMW. I figured you were out of LA.

Aw, come on now... it's not really that bad.

If you've spent any time in a UAG store, you'll notice that corporate really keeps their hands out of things, and they manage in a "big picture" manner. Each GM is free to run his/her store as he/she feels is best.

No need to apologize Any news about a BMW are interesting to me

Anyway, SARAFIL, people like you are hard to find:

- Being a car-dealer

AND

- Having an idea what you are talking about

So, Sarafil, are you apart of the UAG system? It sounds like you speak from experience. Are you also in SoCal?

Yes, I am. And, no, I'm in New England.

I've been around for a while, and I'm very happy where I am.
