E60 cup holders... what's the BIG deal?
Having driven an E39 for 6 years... forced to deal with those "POS" cup holders... I really don't see the issue for complaining about the E60 cupholders.
I've had my E60 for a week now... and I'm a regular at Starbucks, addict actually! Last weekend my gf and I used the cupholders for both the Vente' and Grande' sized cups. I actually thought they were great. They were stable, but mostly didn't "block" any of the controls. I think the lack of storage in the cabin of the E60 is more of an issue... if they had positioned the cup holders in a more traditional area... the storage would have been reduced even more.........

early e60 cupholders hold cups at an angle and they don't fit all the way down but they have been revised and are not having near as many problems.

Can the new style cup holders be retrofitted to earlier E60s? May 2004 build.
I don't use the cup holders in my car because I'm afraid they will break off. . .

I wish the cupholders on my 00 528i were like the ones in my 99 chevrolet malibu, i mean in the front drivers seat, a cup holder on the left just pulls out, and holds any size drink firmly in place.

Well, I guess it took lots of complaining about the E39 that BMW finally designed something (half-way, IMO) decent in the E60.
I understand that Europeans do not use cupholders or drink/eat in their cars too much or not as much as Americans do....
