Installed new driver's door lock actuator. Now key won't work. ??

I just installed a door lock actuator on my 2011 328i Xdrive. It works fine electronically but will not open with the metal key. The key turns about 90 degrees in both directions with what feels like proper spring resistance but the actuator does not unlock or lock the door. Any ideas?

Looks like you have not properly installed/aligned key cylinder and door lock mechanism.

I wondered about that because the location where the cylinder stem enters the actuator is X shaped. This allows for the cylinder to enter in 1 of 4 positions is suppose. I will try to remove the cylinder and try to turn the actuator with a screwdriver to locate the proper position of the cylinder. I should have done that the first time. Thanks
