Engine "dies" when acceleratin and when keeping steady speed

I own a 325 Touring from 1989. I love my car but it has recently given me some problems.

The engine just dies (as if the RPM protection is setting in) when i accelerate and also when I keep a steady speed. The engine is also hard to start.

I have changed the air filter and the sparking plugs. I have also checked the valves and changed the relays for electricity in the engine. NO RESULT!!

Does anybody have a clue what this can be and what I should test? I would very much appreciate any suggestion :-)

No mention of distrubuter cap and rotor or condition of spark plug wires. Do you have Maurders in Sweden, like Germany does? They ate thru my wifes VR6 leads on here Passat to the cost of $170.


Your description leaves it open to chase many differant directions but Check the aftermentioned its and then say what's up.

I would also check the Air Flow Meter. Another biggie is vaccum leaks. Check the rubber flex at the throttle body.
