Navigation update for 2004 530i

I have a 2004 530i. I heard there is a navigation update that came out early this year. My BMW dealership referred me to www.navteq.com and said that I should order this on my own for $199. I have several new neighborhoods in my city. I am wondering if the new disk will reflect that?

According to the Navteq website, the description of updates is:

This DVD contains full coverage of the continental United States with over 5.4 million miles of road and more than 5 million points of interest. Points of interest include 471,048 restaurants, 69,856 hotels, 116,850 ATMs, and 93,601 gas stations. My 2005 545i came with it. Before(2000), the price of the Navigation included one free Navteq update. I guess they stopped doing that.

2005-2 is the most current version that I am aware of but I got screwed somehow and when I picked up my new ED 2005 545i, I had 2004-2...

I emailed BMW and inquired to see if they still give out free upgrades. I'll post here once I receive response

Yep, I could have told you that. I called complaining about why I got an outdated NAV DVD disc but it fell on deaf ears....

I just got my US Nav disk today from the dealer and it is the 05-2 version which I believe it is the latest version. Mine did not come with the US Nav. disk when I received the car back in the Us from my Ed trip, so the dealer(Nalley BMW) sent a copy. My neighborhood has many new developments so the new version should pick those up including my 3yr old house.

version work with the new voice activation on the 06 models?

It should, Navteq only provides the Map Data information for the system. All BMW SVDO DVD based Navigation Systems use the same Navteq Data Disk. The voice controls, Nav software, etc. is provided by BMW.
I recently installed the Navteq 2005-2 disk (formally 2004-2) and see several changes in the map data, but no changes in the Nav operating system.

give me an address, or location(s), and I'll be happy to check and see if it is on the 2005-2 version for you.

I wonder if the 2005-2 dvd has better coverage in Canada/Quebec?

I often travel to Mount Tremblant (Saint Jovite is the town) and there is no coverage beyond Montreal with the 2004-2 dvd that was delivered with my X3 in dec 2004. The BMW guys in Western Mass could not help with an intelligent answer and the navtech guy could not guarantee that there is any change in that area. I would buy the new DVD but only if there is a real improvement and not just hype ("marketing")
would appreciate any feedback you guys have...

The 2005-2 DVD version did not recognize Saint Jovite, St Jovite, Jovite, or Mount Tremblant, Mt Tremblant, Tremblant in Canada.

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket navigation product for the 2005 BMW 530i. I had to take an instock model of my car and there were no 2005 530i models in my area with navigation. I get lost all the time when I travel and would love to have something integrate using the idrive screen.

I know I'm dreaming but it would be nice.
