So, what is everyone's take on run flat tires and performance & failure tolerance. Is the "mobility kit" sufficient to get out of a jam in a remote location, or is it actually worth considering having a space-saver wheel and jack in the trunk?
  2. X3 F25 (2011 - 2017)
I have a 2012 X3 with 17" wheels. Apparently that's not so common, but it is what it is. Anyway, it's time for new tires again. Last time I did this, I put on these: 245/55R-17 Michelin Primacy MXM4 ZP They are apparently unavailable now. Tire Rack has three options, these look like...
  3. F30 / F31 / F32 / F33 / F34 / F36 (2012 - current)
So I get a low tire pressure warning last night, this morning I checked and found a screw in the center of the tire, not the side wall. Since this is my firs bmw and the first time dealing with run flats, does anyone have any advice as to what I should do? Do I get a brand new tire, get it...
  4. E90/E91/E92/E93 (2006 - 2013)
My front driver side tire blew out today at 60mph on the highway (I don't think I hit anything). I drove 2 miles to Firestone and they replaced the 2 front tires (the closest BMW dealership was 20 miles away). They said I also need to replace the back tires, but they didn't have them in stock...
  5. E89 Z4 (2009 - current)
Today replaced 2G Bridgestone RFTs with 3G RFTs, RE960AS RFT. Immediately felt/believed/sensed that ride was waaaay smoother and less hard. Nothing scientific in my initial impressions and will give the tires a workout on the incredibly bumpy Mulholland Drive pothole ridden scenic wonder way...
  6. E90/E91/E92/E93 (2006 - 2013)
I used to have a 2003 BMW 330i with the sports package and regular all season tires. I loved the handling, ride quality that was just right without being harsh and the steering was tight enough and not loose to give good road feedback. I decided to get a CPO 2008 335i with the sports package...
  7. Wheels and Tires
I returned my lease and had a spare RFT leftover. Still has okay amount of tread left. Great for those of you who want something to put back on a lease vehicle in case you get a bubble. Eagle NCT 5 225/45R17 This came from 128i convertible with sports package. I'm in the Torrance area hoping...
  8. X5 E70 (2007 - 2013)
I just picked up my new 2012 X5 w/ M-Sport package. Love the car, but I'm wavering on whether or not to buy the Road Hazard Coverage, priced at $1,895. I searched on some threads on this Forum, but most on the topic are pretty old, or are not necessarily the same type of tire, so would love a...
  9. F10 / F11 (2011 - 2016)
Guys I was dismayed to find a bubble or protrusion in the sidewall of my RFT this morning. The sensor is not on in the vehicle and I cannot notice any performance degradation, but it is certainly visible. I don't have my digital camera otherwise I would include a photo. Recommendations welcome...
  10. X5 E70 (2007 - 2013)
Just completed a 10,000 mile roadtrip in my 2009 X5 35d. Here are things I worried about and how it turned out. As a note, we drove from Houston to Alaska and back with some ferries in the mix. The trip took 5 weeks. 1. Run flat tires. I was really worried about the run flat tires. Before...
  11. E60 / E61 (2004 - 2010)
I have 2010 535i w/Sports Package and Dunlop run flat tires. It has 10,500+ miles on it. Had rear left tire flat last night. Drove about 15 miles using the flat tire. Call roadside assistance to put the spare on after reaching home. Took the tire for repair today, but technician said the cut is...
  12. E63 / E64 6 Series (2004 - 2010)
I've only had my 6-series for two months. So I have been running it pretty hard. The tires on the car couldn't have too many miles on it. 32k miles on the car and those tires are not original. Well I managed to tear through the two rear tires. They were fun while they lasted. I'm switching to...
  13. E90/E91/E92/E93 (2006 - 2013)
Last week I traded my 03 325i for new 328xi. Was initially glad to think that I have run flats as a new feature, until the dealer warns me before delivery that I should get some sort of warranty since they create some bubbles. This is my first time with run flats so I declined it. I was never...
  14. E90/E91/E92/E93 (2006 - 2013)
Hi folks, I know this topic has probably been hacked to death, but I was searching the forums and didn't find anything definitive. I'm driving a 2006 325i with the sport package on. I'm running the stock Pirelli Euphori@ run-flats: Front: 225/45 R17 91V Rear: 255/40 R17 94V I've done 35K...
  15. E90/E91/E92/E93 (2006 - 2013)
I have been victimized by the dreadful bulges on the sidewall on the Bridgestone RFTs. I ran over a pothole last week and surely enough, two bulges, both around 3-4" in diameter; developed on both my driver side tires. From the experience of other owners in the forum, I think two things are...
  16. E90/E92/E93 M3 (2008 - 2014)
I am getting close to pulling the trigger on a heavily discounted M3 sedan. But I just figured out: no spare tire and no run flats! Is it really practical to repair and inflate your own flat? What have others here done? Also, does anyone why M3s come standard with a crappy stereo? I would pay...
