Sales Drop in July at BMW America

BMW Group sales dropped nearly 14% last month, decreasing sales for the year-to-date figures by 5.5%, as compared to 2016.

The disappointing result came as a result of decreasing sales at both BMW (-14.5%) and MINI (-7.9%) in July.

Sales at BMW are only down 4.6% for the year so far, with notable exceptions such as the 4 Series and 5 Series performing well with increases of 31% and 12% respectively.

“Sedans made something of a comeback in July even as the dog days and summer vacations had their effect on the pace of business,” said CEO Bernhard Kuhnt. “The new BMW 5 Series continues gaining as availability improves.”

MINI’s sales, meanwhile, decreased nearly 8% in July and 11% for the year so far.

Despite that, Kuhnt is still optimistic: “The highly popular BMW X3 is now undergoing model changeover and we are looking forward to the market launch of the all-new model later this year.”

BMW is taking way too long on the new X3. To not have an updated vehicle in the hottest segment in the market for such a long time is an error, you would think they would learn from. However I doubt they will.

Now the far-left AntiFa group are saying you're a Nazi if you drive a German car - LOL!

Wow...what paranoid fake news is THAT based on? The product at BMW dealerships is dusty. Have purchased an F-Pace and a Boxster since there was nothing new at BMW.

The more "used" and "cpo" vehicles exist in the world the more obvious the sales will drop. Sure the business level leasers who are BMW only will remain but everyone who is around 5% probably buy from a 3rd party dealer.

Gee, it's mid-November and this post is still talking about a July YTD sales drop. Who is minding the shop here? Where is Jon Shafer when we need him?
