For the first time in BMW's history, the company has sold more than 2 million vehicles in just ten months.

At the conclusion of October, a total of 2,008,849 vehicles had found new homes in 2017, a 3.4% increase compared to the same point last year. October's sales were less than a percent improvement over October 2016, which suggests a slow and steady increase YoY.

The total Group sales increase can be attributed to increased sales from key portfolios, notably the BMW X family. Total X sales were up 11.3% through October 2017 even though sales of the recently released X3 have yet to become a factor. The 7 Series is up 11.9% with 53,043 deliveries year-to-date.

The 5 Series posted an 8.5% gain in October 2017, and that's still without the Chinese market which is in the midst of ramping up production. Other notables include the 2 Series which is up 5% YTD, and the 4 Series Gran Coupé which posted a 21.6% gain in the first 10 months of 2017.

Thanks to a range of nine electrified choices, BMW has also enjoyed a 63.7% increase in electric vehicle sales through the first ten months of 2017. In October, BMW i and iPerformance vehicles accounted for roughly 8% of total BMW sales in the USA, France, the UK and the Netherlands; while in Scandinavia, electrified sales account for over 30% of total BMW deliveries. Total group electrified sales of 9,405 represent an increase of 60.3% versus October 2016.

MINI is also having a standout year, with the brand topping moving 300,000 cars in ten months for the first time in the reincarnated brand's history. Total sales are up 3.2% compared to the same point in 2016, gains have largely been driven by the 64,339 MINI Countrymans delivered, an increase of 19.3% YTD.

Motorrad is also clicking along towards another record sales year. Sales for the year are up 10.4%, with 140,269 bikes and scooters finding new homes in the last ten months; 12,451 of which occurred in October 2017, a 13.5% increase YoY.
