BMW will unveil the new i8 Roadster at the 2017 Los Angeles Motor Show later this month.

In advance of the official unwrapping, BMW has teased the car's arrival on YouTube with a video showing the validation process at the factory in Leipzig, Germany.

The biggest difference between the i8 and i8 Roadster will be the addition of a new folding soft top. The Roadster will also debut a new plug-in hybrid drivetrain which should be available in both body styles. Horsepower is expected to grow to 400 while battery capacity should double from 7.1 kWh to 14 kWh.

Pricing is naturally unavailable at this time, but expect a higher starting price than the i8's $140,000+ MSRP. Bimmerfest will be on hand in LA gathering all the hot scoops.
