The new RS5 is one of the best front-engined Audis ever. The firm has found new-found levels of throttle adjustability and a near GT-R level of drivetrain complexity. But is it good enough to topple the BMW M3? Autocar took the pair to Millbrook's Alpine Hill Route to see what came out on top in the battle of the B-road super-coupes.

Kind of silly they just didn't time them. Clearly the Audi was slowing the M3 down through some sections of the course because it was being followed. Weird test.

for the price of the rs5 can someone tell me a reason to not get the carrera s?

real rear seats is not a reason as you dont want to end up in the back of an a5/s5/rs5. yes its a tad more spacious but its not really a people carrier.

One word.

I drove a 97 M3 for 5 years including all winter long. In New Hampshire and then Northern NY.

Snow tires were fine for me, but AWD grows on you. I will not have a winter car! Unless it's an X5 M!!

I've been waiting for an AWD M car. M3 or M5.

The 550ix MSport is about as close as it gets!
