2012 BMW F32 3 Series Coupe Spy pictures

In pure German precision, just days after the world premier of the F30 3 series sedan we get spy pictures of the coupe. Clearly BMW was waiting to drive the coupe test mules in public until the sedan has had it's day in the sun. Sporting camouflage swirl paint and heavy body cladding the 2013 BMW 3 Series Coupe, chassis code F32 makes it's first spy picture appearance. Clearly BMW has been waiting to run the F32 coupe test mules around Germany until

While we can't tell much about the face of the car or the trunk because of the panels BMW added to disguise the look the green house is clearly visible. The coupe gets a raked windshield over it's sedan sibling. We can also see the tradition frame less windows are carried over as expected. Based on the exhausts being on just the right side we can assume this is a 328i inline turbo 4 cylinder N20 engine.

Undoubtedly this will be the first of many spy pictures we see of the coupe over the next 6 months leading up to the press release. As we get closer to the launch BMW will run the cars around with less and less camo so stay tuned to F30Driver.com for more F32 coupe news as it happens.

Really looking forward to seeing more of the coupe, since that will give some insights on the look of the M3. Soon.....

You know that this was intentionally done by BMW

They are smart enough in their marketing departments to know that having these test mules out there getting spotted builds a ton of hype. Crazy that a few days after they take the wraps off the sedan that we would see a coupe sighting

I agree the coupe should end up being more distinct. I really liked the E92 as a sporty take on the E90. I hope they can pull off the same kind of tweaks with the F32.

With the E90 and E92 most of the changes were in the details and that is what we can't see at this point. I just hope they don't call it a '4 series'. The 3er is a legendary name and I think 335i has a nice ring to it. Am I the only one that would not want to have to explain what i'm talking about when I say I drive a '428i'?

The swoopy hood and blunt nose make me think of a new Mustang. I like the general look of this, but I don't like that it looks like it is as big as a pony car. Maybe they will eventually grow the 1-series to the point where I might like THAT car for its sporty dimensions, as right now it feels too small for me, and the new 3 looks like it may be too big for a sporty, German coupe.

I'm sure the 1ers will eventually grow to the size of the current 3's. After all, the current 3's are about the size of the old 7's.

This is not a good omen for the beloved 3 series

Seeing spy shots this soon... does it mean we could see a Late 2012-early 2013 release?

Why is it that when I look at the last third of the car I keep thinking Volvo S60. Not that this is a bad thing because the Volvo is a good looking car but it's the shoulder above the rear wheel that continues towards the boot that just reminds me of Volvo.

Based on the mule shots, I'm liking what I see. If they are going with a completely unique greenhouse (E92 did not - it shared the windshield rake with the E90) that bodes well for the F32 not sharing a single exterior panel with the F30. And that's as it should be - the coupe/vert should be more dramatically-styled and expressive than the bread-and-butter sedan.

There were spy photos of the F30s running around in heavy camo at least a year ago if not before. If the F30 and F32 follows the E90 and E92 timeline we won't get details on the F32 3 series coupe until spring of 2013.
