Again this site needs a thank you button. Thanks for the heads up! I'll just reconfigure my ordered car and marvel at how much I saved!

Broken. The M Sport if you select anything other than beige leather/ette the site removes the m sport and blue color.

Crap, I just learned (the hard way) that everest gray interior for sport line no longer offers the black highlight finishers. A quick check of my order sheet from the dealer confirms this fact. Looks like I'm going to have to get comfortable with a bright red dashboard.

Are you sure about that? It still looks like black highlight finishers is available with brushed aluminum.

I've got on my 2013 328i VIR:

ZSL Sport Line
LCL4 Leather Dakota Everest Grey/Black highlight
4AD Brushed Aluminum trim N/C
4DL Highlight trim finishers Black high-gloss

And I can change the website to this exact configuration...

Hmm, I will email my CA and see if the order can be changed then.

I do see that the red stitching persists on the steering wheel even without red highlights. Kind of a bummer there.

Alright. Opinions on the Anthracite Wood trim + Everest Grey Sport line? I was going to go Alum/Black finisher but I can't tell if the wood is hideous or suitably unique and luxurious.

Click M Sport, blue and then red leather... it blows up and deletes the package and car color.

lol so my m-sport came out to 60k with everything but a few scrubby options (and acc )

Not bad at all. Is there a power boost or no?

Once again the massive global corporation can't seem to put together a simple configurator website that any second year CS student could do in 3 days.

What makes you think the massive global corporation isn't contracting it out to a tiny organization that has 2nd year CS students doing the work?

How big of a deal is it to change a car in 112 production status? I really pulled a boneheaded move with my interior trim choice and I am hoping my CA can fix it for me before the car goes into production.

I just configured an Active Hybrid with the M-Sport Package. How can they combine these two totally incongruous items and NOT permit Everest Gray leather in the M-Sport package. Not that I'm in the market as I just got a 2012, I just found it interesting to play around with the configuration. And for what it's worth, my configuration looks to be about $1,500 more in the MY2013 configuration than in my 2012.

VoIP...

The CA configured my car initially with the wrong trim. Had to do a complete reorder with a new production no. just 1/2 hour later.

Seems weird. But the BMW ordering software appears to be fairly inflexible.

Let us know how it goes...

Thanks,

I will call him in a couple of hours and see what can be done. Stupid oversight on my part... I could probably live with the boy-racer trim if it came down to having to bump my order by a few weeks.

Configurator is slow and wonky. It was dropping the M-Sport package based on some color choices, it was not allowing some package and option selections, and it wasn't allowing you to add premium if you already added cold-weather. Not sure what else was broken.

In the end, I wound up with a $55,000+ 328i. Yikes! Maybe that Evoque or Model S aren't such bad alternatives after all, and would certainly be more unique on the road.

Damn, the F30 is overpriced. A loaded 328xi MSport is over $50k. X1 is a bargain next to it

Funny, I'm getting a loaded 335i for roughly the same as the not loaded 335d E90 I was eyeing.

Just built a 328xi MSport for $54k. Equivalent X1 28i xDrive MSport is $45k. I don't even want to know how much a 3 wagon will be.

Estoril Blue is epic though

My 335i M sport MSRP is 55,920 - I'm not paying MSRP...got a deal for 1k over invoice.

That's loaded except for the parking nannies and no HK stereo.

Sounds like the 335 is the way to go.

Wow, why would one consider a loaded 328i when a well loaded 335i is $55k.

The big question is M-Sport on the Hybrid. Is it free with Estoril Blue as the configurator states it is.

It better be with the price they're charging for it. $49k base is ridiculous

Wonder when the Canadian BMW site will have the 2013 configuator. I have been chomping at the bit to configure a 335 xdrive sedan. The USA site is good, but in Canada, at least for MY 2012, the standard features and packages are different than in the US. For example, in 2012, only the 3 lines were offered, no base model. Also, all the 335s come with sport seats, sport steering wheel, the xenons, and a bottle of maple syrup. Ok the last part was made up .

I drive over 16K miles per year, so fuel economy was a factor... not that I can't afford the fuel, but that I would feel a little bit guilty racking up tons of stop/go miles with the thirstier engine.

I also thought the performance between the two was very close, closer than I expected until I had done a few test drives.

To be fair, there are different situations where the 328 is a better value vs the 335, and vice versa. The spread is still between 3k and 5k, and potentially higher depending on if you consider fuel in the total cost of ownership.

For a typical buyer (not us) looking at cars on a dealer lot, a 328i with premium + cold weather + random option is going to look more appealing that a 335i similarly equipped. Mostly because the price of the 328i doesn't cross the magical 40k boundary, where many people psychologically convince themselves it is still okay to buy the bimmer, it isn't like it is 40k.

I am personally going with the 328i, mostly because for street level driving, while the 335 was faster, the 328i still had more than enough power for 98% of situations according to the butt gauge. And after owning an E46 325i, the thing was a rocket.

I just thought I would follow-up. After playing with the configurator (which has higher resolution images than it did last year) I actually decided that I liked the red/black trim options for the Everest Gray better than the aluminum/black trim, so I ended up keeping my order as it is.

The bonus is that my wife thinks the red stripe looks terrible, so at least I won't have to worry about her borrowing the shiny new BMW (well, often anyways).

Agreed. The grey needs the red highlight.

I wish they offered more than just beige, red and black in the m-sport.

As a side note, this E. Gray interior is the first time that I've liked a light colored interior in a bimmer. I've always gone for the blacks, browns and reds. This time the gray looks really sweet!

I hope it looks as good in person as in the pics. Unfortunately I have yet to see a single properly exposed pic of the gray interior taken by anyone and the 2011 E90 had a slightly bluish gray interior that was also called "everest" that looked a bit different than this new one.

In all of the pics I've seen the gray looks super light, we'll find out in another 8-10 weeks when I get mine. I plan on shooting high quality video (1080P) as well as taking properly exposed photographs.

Here here. I have the same trepidation about the EG. I'll help you populate the board with some decently exposed pics. I have a 18% grey card on a holster ready to go.

Dang... I really liked M sport package on previous model, this one is not bad either but i'm not sure that even if I waited that I would get m line over sport. That steering wheel is great though, looks just like M6 wheel.

I normally despise gray interiors. Particularly all the gray plastic that tends to look dirty. However, the way the F30 uses a two-tone black and gray on the EG interior is actually quite nice.

Late to the game on this thread. Apologies.

I already have a sport 328 F30, but the 2013 bundling of options and the M Sport package confuse me. Maybe the configuring system is messed up still but...

+ If I want steering wheel heaters (best invention since sliced bread ) I need to get the cold weather package and that requires me to get leather seats? A $190 option (in March) became $2400 in June?

+ IMHO the M Sport wheels really ruin the look. Sport Line wheels on this car look much better. Important since the only real difference between the packages is in looks (and price I guess). Or am I wrong? Are M Sport staggered?

+ While I am at it, in both M Sport and Sport did the design of the steering wheel and manual shifter change for 2013? They look different and inferior design wise to 2012 Sport.

+ I wish I could have the Beige interior option in Sport. Had to go with black (it's HOT right now). Good to see it's available on the M Sport (but why not on Sport?).

+ Finally BMWNA managed to get Adaptive M suspension on the configure screens. Interesting it's tied to variable steering, but only $100 more so worth it.

+ For my choices doing same Sport 328 car 2012-2013 price goes up about $1500 while losing Steering wheel heater (which would have meant price went up $3900).

1. You don't have to get leather to get cold weather package for 2013, but you are correct, you do need to get the cold weather package to get the heated steering wheel. If I had ordered a 2012 I also would have gotten the heated steering wheel (plus heated seats) and skipped the rest of cold weather package.

2. Sport wheels vs. M sport is personal preference, not sure what the point is there.

3. Sport line has the same shifter and steering wheel as luxury/base/modern from what I can see. On m-sport cars there is a different wheel and shifter.

4. You can get everest gray interior if you don't want a black interior on a sport line, same as for 2012.

5. Yes, you can even get adaptive M suspension with an x-drive car, which you could not do before.

6. For the price increase you would have gotten other things you might or might not have normally opted for, such as power memory seats, split rear folding bench, etc.
