The Official Bimmerfest F30 3 Series Black Sapphire Photo Thread

This thread can serve as a repository for pictures of black F30's. Black is notoriously hard to photograph but i will be doing my damndest when my sport line shows up in another 3-4 weeks.

Photos I took of mine;

Ones mod pasted in! :P

One thing I have to agree on that someone posted awhile back is there are a lot more nooks and cranes to deal with on the F30 than on other models no matter black, white or green it takes longer to wash and dry. Good luck

Great pics! Post up the interior shots but keep them out of the first post, sound reasonable? We really need to get interiors threads going as well

Sounds reasonable to me, will do! I have some great pics of the Everest Gray interior so if you say the word I will start a thread for that interior color choice.

Car looks phenomenal....my only gripe is the placement of the X-Drive badge. Seems like it would look better on the side of the car or lower on the trunklid somewhere.

I agree... I noticed it right away, I think that the fender badges that they've done in previous years actually look better. I might possibly remove it.

Looks good, very shiny. I like the idea of updating the photos with Fall foliage. I'm going to do that myself over in the MG thread.

I believe it's just shy of the legal limit for Colorado, which means it's probably 25% or so (limit is 27%). My dealer tints all of them this way, so you can call them and find out exactly what tint they use. Ralph Schomp BMW in Colorado.

The new brakes on the F30 have very little brake dust.

I can't tell you how dusty my brakes were on my E90, the new car hasn't shown any if you can believe it.

BMW reduced 44 lbs off the corners by changing out the brake type on the F30(and reducing unsprung weight). The new brakes seem to have less brake dust. Now if they could fix the steering...

Sure, I have an entire interior thread here; For whatever it's worth, the dealership people have all remarked that it's the sharpest looking BMW 3 series interior they've seen EVER. Maybe they are just trying to make me feel good about my purchase.

In reality it does not look like that, what you are seeing is the result of the exposure used on the camera. In reality it blends quite well and you don't really notice so much that it's a separate display.

Having bimmerfest keeps me sane, LOL.

Saturday, at the dealer when we placed the order, I tried to convince my wife to "go black." She's got the final say on color so EBII it is.

I've yet to see Estoril Blue "in the flesh." There's absolutely no way you can see one on a dealer's lot around here. There are plenty of black and white F30s to look at, a couple of grays, one or two silver cars and one Imperial Blue. That's it!

Don't worry, your going to love it! That specific display is really well done imo. I didn't realize it was even an lcd at first.. The exposure and the ultra wide lens I used distort the image quite a bit.

Doesn't work for me. Too much black on an already sharp black car. It's like wearing a tuxedo to a formal event, and then deciding that to one-up things you will change out your white shirt for a black one and put dark sunglasses on. Might be more appealing to me on a non-black car.

I don't like the black grill on a black car, either. There's already chrome in the headlights, and the chrome trim of the kidneys help the keep the whole front end of the car from being swallowed up in a sea of darkness. Contrast helps, and the BMW designers are pretty good. If anything (with the normal grill), you can see those twin kidneys coming at you from a distance, and you can instantly recognize it as a BMW.

Here are some pictures... they're not the best, better ones to come when the weather in Ohio decides to warm up and I can detail the car.

Loving the 3er so far! Glad to be part of the BMW family.. It's my first BMW!
