It's terrible, terrible! Way too expensive! What is BMW thinking?! How do they expect anyone ever to afford to buy one?!

It seems that a similarly equipped F32 as my F30 costs about the same. Some things come standard on the F32 like Xenons, Moonroofs, and paddle shifters.

Edit: Its actually just a little more than I initially calculated.
According to my calculation, a 428 with all the options that my 328 has except for Active Blind Spot detection (part of driver assistance package for 2013 but no stand along option for 2014 428), costs 54,800 (per price sheet) vs. my 328 price of 53,600 (per bmwconfig.com not including the M Performance Exhaust) for a price difference of 1,200.

Base 41425
Paint 550
M Sport 3500
Driver Assi 950
Side and top view 750
DHP 1000
Premium 2200
Tech 3150
Alarm 400
HK 875
Active blind spot n/a

Total 54800

What is this new lighting package? Looks like Xenons are standard on F32.

Here is what I am looking at right now.

BMW 435i
Base Price 46,000
Destination & Handling 925
Estoril Blue Metallic 550
M-Sport 3100
Cold Weather Package 700
Driver Assistance Package 950
Dynamic Handling Package 1000
Premium Package 2200
Technology Package 3150
M-Sport Brakes 650
Harman Kardon Sound 875
$60,100

The only thing I am not sure on right now is the HK sound system and the M-Sport Brakes.

Loaded up sans a couple things that might be superfluous to me, I got about $56-$57K for a 435i M Sport. About $5.5-$7K from my loaded 535i's MSRP.

And herein lies the "mind trickery" of the "4" nomenclature coming into play (as I scratch my head wondering what to make of that pricing difference).

Which are Xenons and which are LEDs? Are LEDs just in the back? Are Angel Eyes Xenons or LEDs?

I personally think $1900 for a lighting package is just ridiculous.

The coupe equivalent has always been a little more expensive.

And others have said, the F 32 comes with some things standard: Moonroof, lighting package, that's $1500 right there.

I think we were all expecting a price increase sadly.

I swear if this expensive "Lighting Package" doesn't have LED rear (AND front) turn signals unlike the F30, it would be incomprehensible.

You seem to have missed the little smiley face sticking out his tongue. And you must have missed my opinion of BMW's cheap, lazy choice to use a four banger rather than maintain their unique competitive advantage with a newly designed small displacement turbo I6.

Whatever. Are you aware it's lighter than the E92?
cwsqbm commented:

I never liked the E92 compared to the E46 coupe, but its far better looking that this monstrosity.

The face is ugly - it looks like a squirrel with nuts stuffed into its checks. I'm not an F30 fan, but its far better, From the B-pillar back, it looks more like a G35 coupe than previous BMW models. Maybe there were complaints from E46 coupe and E92 owners that some adults could still fit in back, and so head room had to be reduced even more.

As for those that think its too expensive, BMW still sells a 1 series with a prettier face (although I just noticed its been recently changed), naturally aspirated inline six, non-electric power steering, and classic BMW rear window angle. All starting for $8k less.

Perhaps this has already been discussed, but I just noticed standard feature "8KL Oil Chg 10,000 mls/12 months". Yet the 2014 3 series sedan ordering guide lists standard feature "8KC Oil Chg 15,000 miles/24 months". What gives, since they both have the same engines?

My CA said they changed it back down to 10k based on analysis from the prior year(s).

Does this automatically apply to pre-2014 years as well? 15K just seemed too high and like a copout/cost-saving tactic due to BMW fronting the service bill now.

This was BMW's strategy all along, bring in the 1&2 series and bump up the price of the 3&4 series. The bean counters have it all figured out, oh so they think!

I agree somewhat, maybe it will look better in person and/or grow on me over time, but right now, this doesnt have me feeling that "I WANT THAT CAR!" feeling I had with the E92 - I just kinda feel, "Man, I might be in danger of blowing all this cash on a car that kind of looks ok, but not really sure".

IMO, the car is designed well enough to be called a BMW, but stops there. There doesnt seem to be anything really special about the F32 compared to the F30, as opposed to the E92 when placed next to the E90.

It basically looks like the result of a team of people, who each had their own individual design ideas that may have been solid, but simply could not come to an agreement, so what we have with the F32 is a severe compromise in aesthetics, no risk, no edginess.

I have gone back and looked at the order sheet a couple of times now, and can't see where it says that the M-Sport brakes are part of the M-Sport package. I might be missing something but it looks like if you want to upgrade the tire/wheel combo on the ZMM package then it is mandatory to upgrade the to the 2NH (M-Sport Brakes) option. Otherwise it is simply a stand alone option on all cars.

All car prices are going up in general. Before I got the BMW I was looking at all cars and even a fully loaded Camero is over 40k now. Now that is shameful... From what I get looking from the outside, it appears BMW is trying to up the prices to be more comparable with Audi and the 4 series is targeted at the A5 customer. Basically changing their price points and target customers. It is a gamble but in their eyes if you cannot afford the new 3 or 4 series, then we have the 1 and 2 series. Sad but quite obvious what they are trying to do.

You built a almost fully optioned F32. Base pricing (MSRP) is only up $900 with most other options the same or a few hundred more. Not really a big price increase.

I know I got a lot. It was more just a comment on the price of the cars in general. A fully loaded G37 was only 48k when I built it a few weeks ago. 55 something (- the nav I didn't realize was in the prem package) sounds more palatable than 58 something.

BMW's term for Leatherette. I think the newer stuff is a acceptable substitute for leather that will last longer. My biggest objection is it doesn't breath like leather and is a little more 'clingy' to clothes. Great for spirited driving, not for wearing dress clothes that get bunched up in the seat.

I would have thought since this is supposed to be more upscale than than a 3er that you would be able to get Nappa or Novillo leather as an option.

i order a 435i a week or so ago and my dealer told me the lighting package its just for full led automatic high beam. if dont know what that mean ill tell you. the 435i comes full LED's but with the lighting package when its darker than normal the high beam automatically comes on and when on coming traffic comes the light moves out its way turning away from on coming traffic not blinding them. also you dont have to turn the lights on and off
jjrandorin commented:

unfortunately we do not get that version of the automatic high beams hee in the usa (the ones that move out of the way on their own, and re configure their shape based on oncoming traffic)

How confident is the dealer in this answer? Even the 650i GC comes with Xenon lamps standard, with the "full LED light/auto high beam" package on that car similarly coming in at $1900...
Snareman commented:

I thought the LEDs were the 1900 option. That $1900 can't be just for auto high beams function. That'd be nuts.

Found my own answer on BMW USA's website:

435i features and specs: "Xenon Adaptive Headlights with dynamic auto-leveling, Corona headlight-rings, and LED accent lights"

"LED accent lights" I assume are the eyebrows.

Then on the packages and options page it doesn't have any talk about LED headlights, just lists $1900 for a "lighting package" that only shows automatic high beams!
elistan commented:

Obviously ANOTHER website mistake. Go to the Options tab and you will see Auto High Beams as a stand-alone option for only $250.
