BMW-Toyota collaborate on Z5 project

”z5”

German newspaper Focus reports that BMW is teaming up with Toyota on a new car, a roadster that would be called the Z5.

Also reported, was that BMW will be pretty much in charge of everything. The interior, exterior, engine and suspension would all be BMW. Toyota will contribute it's hybrid technology to the mix. This means there would be both gas and hybrid models to choose from. The hybrid model, unlike most hybrids today, would be geared more toward performance and could produce around 136 horsepower.

Damn that thing is even uglier than the C7 Corvette. Looks like a Chris Bangle bungle maxed out.

BMW has lost it trying to go hybrid. That is not the foundation that BMW was built upon.

I'd drive that in a minute...if it was a convertible.

It looks like a Toyota body style, not a BMW like.

No way. Look at the short nose and the long distance between the front axle and driving position. BMW all the way.

I was hoping that the only Japanese input would be cupholders, navigation and sound system.

I threw up in my mouth a little bit. Thank god the concepts usually stay that way, unlike that ghastly i8.

I'm sure the next generation Z4 will be just as beautiful as the current generation Z4 as long as BMW designates Juliane Blasi as chief of design.

Toyotas are my most hated of cars (no offense to any possible owners, don't wanna get into a debate about it or anything). So, this collaboration has me shaking in my boots. Ugh!

To the OP. No thanks. If I want a Toyota I'll buy a Toyota.

I'm still cringing ...

I promise I'll buy a Porsche 911 convertible and BMW can keep their Toyota.
