2 Series Details Leaked

by Bernie McGroarty on October 10, 2013, 12:17 pm

Looks like the other day BMW added the 2 Series to their online configurator in South Africa. I'm pretty sure this was an accident of some sort, since it's no longer up. Unfortunately there were no pictures available.

2 Series specs, pricing and options were revealed. The M235i will get a 3 litre single turbo inline 6 (N55), producing 322 hp and 332 torques. This is good for a 0-62 time of 4.8 seconds for the auto and 5.0 second for the manual, bettering the 135is by .1 second. The M235i weighs 3297 pounds with the manual gearbox and 3240 with the auto. US pricing for the M235i will be around the $50k mark.

I'd like to see it in person to make sure it doesn't look like the existing 1 series. If so, I may put off buying the new 4 series and have a look at it.

Does anyone know if this is the new manual going into the M4? Would be a tell of intent and seriousness.

Looks better than the 1 series, but it still has that kind of droopy line from the rear fender to the front wheel. It's like there is an internal policy that it can't look as good as a 3 series. Performance specs look good though!

Sorry, now it's 2 and 4 series...still not used to this.

Very nicely done, BMW! I think I see Munich in my future around September 2015 or May 2016. The only thing I want to verify first is if my fingertips can say what the front tires are doing. If yes, done deal.

Nice save, BMW, considering that I wasn't interested in current wares offered at all. OK, I still have to see (and maybe test drive) 4GC, but the rest is total yawn for one reason or another (no MT in some models, for example or Mustang side vents treatment on some other models ).

I highly doubt it. AG cars don't often (ever?) share transmissions with M cars.

3207 for the manual. It would be pretty weird if the automatic was lighter than the manual...
