The public days of the Los Angeles Auto Show are going on right now and it is your first chance to see the production version of the BMW i8 in person. If the public days are anything like the press days, you will need to get in line to see the supremely popular BMW i8.
BMW brought the production version of the all-new BMW i8 to Los Angeles as there is a good chance that California will be a landing spot for many of the i8 cars that will be sold starting next year. While BMW is not saying just how many BMW i8 cars will be produced, Reuters did manage to learn that the i8 is already SOLD OUT for its first year availability.
We first saw the production version of the i8 at a private showing back in August and were very impressed with how close the car resembled the concept. The car is so close that a fair number of people were overheard asking when this concept car could be put into production. Needless to say they were in disbelief that it was the production car. At the very least BMW has produced a very uniquely styled car that is going to demand a lot of attention. If the car drives as good as it looks, it may be quite some time before they have produced enough to find one at a dealership near you.
The Los Angeles Auto Show continues until December 1st and is a great opportunity to get out and see the BMW i8 and many other new models on display before they go on sale next year. The i8 seems especially interesting and it may be one of the few chances you get to see it in real life.
