4 Series GC Gets Wrung Out At The Ring

by Bernie McGroarty on November 28, 2013, 12:09 am
The 2014 BMW 4-series GrandCoupe has returned to the streets for a new round of testing. This video has some great testing footage of the GrandCoupe from the Nürburgring. It looks, and sounds like they weren't holding back with the GC, really putting it through the paces.

It looks quite floaty. Are we sure that is not a 4GC body on some Buick from the 70s?

I get their marketing and its a nice looking car, but a coupe only has 2 doors. I suppose they can twist the words any way they like though.

Boy I wish I could have driven my car like that when I was there. Does BMW get them to close the track so they can do these tests? I had about 100 other cars there with me and I was positive most of them were going to run into me.
[edit: I guess not since I now see other cars on the track.]

Totally...

Your 328xi would be cornering the ring so much flatter

looks great didn't seem to push much but it was definitely noticeable on some turns.

I wonder if it had a square or staggered tire setup.

It was also a 435, and not the 428, so there is an extra 100+lbs over the nose.

I'm in agreement with you. A 2-door 3 Series coupe is now the 4 Series. So a 4-door 4 Series coupe is ..... 3 Series?

They should have made it a 3 GC so you could at least keep all the sedans in 1 line. Not sure what you then do with the 6GC though.

Well that was rather big and lumbering.

X2...this doesn't make any sense to me at all; it will be nice to look at the sales figures in few years
