2015 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe

The all-new 4 Series Gran Coupe is here and it is being shown off at the New York International Auto Show in Carbon Black with an exclusive Ivory interior. The 4 Series Gran Coupe follows it's bigger brother, the 6 Series Gran Coupe, by combining coupe-like sporty styling with the utility of four doors. The most stunning pieces that stuck out when viewing the car in person were the frameless doors and the hatch-like trunk. The overall design of the car is well done and it is an interesting addition to the line up. I still have questions about how the car fits in overall and I believe many of the concerns would be alleviated by viewing the coupe, sedan and gran coupe in person at the same time. This is something we will look into doing when time permits.

The 2015 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe arrives in the US in early summer of 2014 with two engine choices. The 428i Gran Coupe will feature BMW's award-winning 240hp TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder while the 435i Gran Coupe will be powered by the much-lauded 300hp TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter inline six. The 428i xDrive Gran Coupe will also be available at launch with BMW's intelligent all-wheel drive system. All versions will be offered in the US with an 8-speed sport automatic transmission. Prices in the US will start at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $41,225 (including $925 destination & handling) for the 428i Gran Coupe. The 428i xDrive Gran Coupe will have an MSRP of $43,225, including destination & handling while the top-of-the-line 435i Gran Coupe will have an MSRP of $46,725, again, including destination & handling.

Is that an F30? Even BMW enthusiasts can't tell the difference.

Nice feature in April 2014 Roundel (probably written by BMW marketing). This car looks sharp!

Still trying to figure out the difference between 4-series and 5-series, other than pricing. If 4 is just re-badged 3 then I can quickly cross it off my list.

I find this weird. 2x 4x 6x should be coupes. This should have been a 3 series.

Crappy photos. Please do not photograph beautiful cars with the zoom lens opened up to full wide angle.

Everyone who gets snarky about the existence of the 4GC are going to have the same reaction when one buzzes by you at a stoplight. It will involve an expletive, your jaw hitting the floor, and a spot of drool on your chin.

3 series is now a 4GC in a drag.

Haha, yes, it's like... 'Diet Coke... now featuring sugar!'

But, seriously, kudos to BMW for offering a lot of choices!

Only 'fail' about the whole thing is BMW isn't opening the thing up, let alone showing the trunk and "the hatch".

I was at the show. In-part to see this car, trunk size, and hatch.

A) I was disappointed I didn't get to see the back open.

B) Unofficial poll of the people walking by during my extended time around this vehicle, only about 1 in 20 knew what this car was and that it was a hatch.

One gentleman walked a BMW rep over asking him about it and if it was a hatch. The BMW rep was wondering himself.... I loudly proclaimed, "yes, it's a hatch! And BMW is missing a huge opportunity not showing it in operation. I'll add seeing it in action is a major reason I am at the show"... He later said to me in confidence, "during our orientation they mentioned one of the new cars was a hatch, but as it isn't open I forgot it was this one". -lol
