BMW M2 is a go

"BMW M2 (F87) is a Go! Coming Late 2015 - Early 2016"

The M2 start of production is said to be scheduled for late Fall 2015, which places the first deliveries at the very end of 2015 or early 2016.

Confirming what was reported earlier, we've been told that the M2 will be powered by the N55 turbo inline 6 engine (N55B30T0), producing around 370-380 PS (365-375 HP).

BMW M reportedly also considered a "S48" engine for the M2, presumably an inline four cylinder turbo derived from the (future) B48 engine family. For whatever reason, this engine did not make the cut and we know now that the N55 inline six engine will power the M2.

The code nickname for the M2 is "pyrat2." Why pyrat2? If you recall, the 1M coupe's nickname was "pyrat."

The model code for the M2 will be F87. We do not expect a limited production cycle as the 1M experienced.

Can't wait! 365-375hp? Who wants to bet it's pushing 380-390hp to the wheels when it's strapped to a dyno? Methinks they'll underrate it a bit.

Looks good from the back. Any more pics?

Quick! Show the back again! Not feeling that front. Maybe they'll tone it down before production. I have children and small animals in my neighborhood I don't want to ingest.

Thanks for the news and pics.

Oh what a tragedy.

What do you think the price will look like? Around 50-54k I wouldn't think that much more because the M3 is about 60k.

Nice to see that there has finally been some confirmation from BMW that there is definitely going to be an M2.

Here is a better pic of what the front of the M2 could look like.

All of these pics are just renders and they have been on various forums for months.BMW hasn't shown any official pics of the M2 yet.

Where was that pic in your previous post taken? Looks suspiciously close to the "render". Was it at a car show or other BMW display?

This could be my car when the lease is up. By that time the Audi will become an SUV for hauling and change the 228 to M2 for fun car.

Yes it will change, but not by much. This is the closest it'll be to the real thing.

It is a render, someone posted it on bimmerpost a few months ago.The person who did the render probably took a M235i and changed it from what was on display at a car show.It looks great IMO.

Exactly,I was responding to the other post by Dwight, where he seemed to indicate that your pics were actually real M2 pics. That white M2 render also looks good.

I like everything but the bottom of the front bumper (diffuser?) is a bit busy for my tastes. Looks better in white and I'll still give it a serious look when it comes out. Unless the M4 has snared my by then. Sigh......

Didn't like the 2-series since it debuted but that M2... Wow.

Sign me up, but I don't think I can wait that long and will probably snag a M235i.

Anyone think a sunroof will be an option? IIRC it wasn't available on the 1M.

The front is hideous! So is the back!

Also 375 HP is ridiculous.

What's your bet on pricing?

Wondering whether they will have a convertible.

I have mixed feelings about it. To me it looks too much like the M235i, but with bigger wheels. It doesn't have that M aggressive look to it. Granted this is only a pre-production. So I know they will always be making changes until the official release. It just doesn't compare to the other M cars on the lineup. too much like a 2 series with M package put on it, but I could also see how they are keeping it looking the same as the M235i for people that can't afford the M2 can the the lesser and still feel and look like the genuine thing.

So many views on the car. Either way I can't wait for it. Will definitely be close to what the M3 used to be back in the day; small, fast, simple, and nimble.

Because of the less limited factor it is very probable there will be an M2 Cabrio as it would help in the return of the initial investment. They might go ahead on progress as well. Both were not possible on the 1er M Coupe because of time and money but they did investigate even if it was for internal pleasure.

There will be no Individual for the BMW M2 or the 2er. The factory is not set-up to deal with Individual orders. There are dealers in the US submitting customer queries for Individual colours and interiors for the M235i despite being told it is not possible.
