The wait is over. Stunning 228i in Valencia orange delivered.

”sweet valencia”

Hi everyone. So after 9 weeks of waiting 'patiently' for this car, it is finally here! My CA did an incredible job of ordering and keeping me updated, and I thought the process was smooth as silk.

Unfortunately, I am at work now and I will be able to take more pics later when I have more time. But for now, here you go...

First pic is what my CA sent me as soon as it got off the truck.

228i, Sport Line, Premium, Tech, Lighting, Driver Assist.

It's an absolutely beautiful color, what a head turner. And this car is really fun to drive! Can't wait to get back in after work.

I realized that I completely forgot about interior pics also. I'll post some on my lunch break. I got the black leather dakota with the red highlight interior.

Hopefully it won't get too hot over here in the Summer. I need to tint and get a sunshade for the windshield ASAP.

So gbababichev1 got the Black, Sportstick got the Oyster, and I got the Terra. Between the three of us, there better not be any more complaints in the future about how there are no pics on how one interior looks with a certain exterior.

Dude that is one good looking car! Just a question hows the ground clearance from the front bumper to the ground? Is it noticeably lower with the M Sports suspension. Does it pose a problem when you park or around curbs?

It's not the best. I noticed that today when I was parking. I'll take a pic during my lunch break also to try and show that.

I hope you can tell by this pic. Pretty standard curb size over here in my area. If I were to go closer I would have scraped it. Luckily the PDC thing in the driver assist package feels stuff like that so I know where to stop.

I'm loving these pics for obvious reasons.....the more I stare, the more I think the black mirror caps are calling out to be painted VO. What do you think seeing them in person? I want to make a decision before the clear bra film is applied. Thanks!

I haven't talked to too many people about the color yet, but the two guys I have talked to absolutely loved it. Of course also nobody knew what series it was so I had to explain that.

MSRP is 43,925. I got it for 39500. Leasing, and did a $2,800 cap reduction, and my monthly is 414+ tax so 451.99.

I actually completely disagree, the first time I saw this car in person I thought that the black trim on the rear & front bumper, and the black mirror caps (all part of Sport Line) are awesome. They make the car look much sportier (to me) and I wouldn't paint them VO.

Here are a few more pics when I was out and about. These are all off of my phone and bimmerfest downgrades the quality a bit so I apologize for that.

I had 1k off for recent college grad, and 1k for the May option credit that BMW was offering. The rest was because I went to 3 different dealerships and had them match the best offer.

I also got about 8.9% off MSRP for my 228i. BMW is having their Unforgettable event which took off 1k from the MSRP right off the bat. BMW definitely has good offers around this time!

So you didn't do any MSD's?

Any thoughts of putting the BMS Stage 1 on your car? I'm looking to get the 228i, I was thinking of getting the M235i but adding the BMS Stage 1 to the 228i really wakes up the engine and no need for the extra HP...

My first impressions of the color are it is interesting, but I think over time I'd get very tired of it. Actually it is a bit on the garish side also how does it look dirty?

I did not do any MSD's. I don't remember exactly why as I did all of that in April, but I remember it being not a very good deal for me.

EDIT: I have looked at the BMS kit, but I am not sure. I use this as a daily driver and it has plenty of power for me. I am not sure if I would really need the kit. Maybe after a few months of driving I will change my opinion but for now I am happy.

I think this is exactly what BMW was going for. And I agree it's a very flashy color. But then again it's such a breath of fresh air after leaving the BMW dealership where every car is either black, white, or some sort of gray. Not sure about what it looks like dirty as it's kept in a parking garage overnight but I can already tell it's going to be work to keep this clean. But it's okay for me, I love the color

When first looking and was sure I was getting the M235, it was going to be Estoril Blue, but when I saw that the VO was only offered in the 228 and I was sure I was going that direction, the Orange was my first choice, even though I had yet to see one live and in person. I had never owned a BMW before but I had the 2011 1-series M in mind when I chose this color. In other words, to me it is quintessential BMW. My wife was even a little puzzled I chose it, but she had never seen that 1-series. Certain colors look good with certain cars. For example, I think the Stingray looks incredible in Yellow. On a Camaro, not so much. However, I do think the orange is a hot color right now. Just yesterday, I read an article on the Car and Driver website re the new Jag F-type coupe, entitled "Orange is the new BRG," and they had pictures of this Jag coupe that looked gorgeous. (Btw, It took me a while to figure they meant British Racing Green). In other words, it's more of an exclusive color if you ask me. Color is a matter of personal preference, but I certainly did not want to be one of the thousands of Bimmer owners that have white, black, or silver. There's nothing wrong with those, I just didn't want to have one with a more common color. I've also noticed orange appearing on the Challenger, the Viper, the 370Z, the Audi S5 (if you count Volcano Red), and more and more sports cars. Of course, this is all just IMO, and I respect your choice in color as well.

Great shots! Thanks! The twin I ordered is on its way to the boat! I've decided the only pre-delivery changes I will have done are painting the mirror caps and calipers. I think VO calipers will work better than the Estoril Blue now on the car. MPerformance brakes can be had in VO as one choice, so no new ground being plowed here. The grille will stay as is for now.

Thanks for the pics. My VO 228 should arrive on Wednesday but I'm picking it up Thursday so that they can do the full legal tint (15% rear/28% front). The anticipation is building even more so with those photos. So, since you've gotten yours, have you seen any other VOs out there?

I know this is an old thread but I had to weigh in on this color discussion, specifically the VO. I ordered mine in VO because I think the car looks awesome in this color. I'm currently driving a Spice Orange MINI Cooper S that I love so I'm not worried about getting bored with or tired of the color. I was reluctant at first but I saw the car in VO at my dealer and was sold on it immediately. I recall looking out over the dealer's lot at the sea of black, grey and dark blue and BANG, there was the Valencia Orange. That sealed the deal for me. Orange may be a little "out there" for a BMW but one thing it is not, is boring! Mine goes into production next week! I'm excited, but I'm going to miss the MINI for sure.

Bones, you must be a young child if you did not know BRG!! . BRG with saddle tan interior was the bee's knees in the '60s for XK-E, TR-3 & MG. I had a GF in 1970 that had a yellow XK-E
that was really a wild car back then. The 228 gets close to the spirit of those fun cars.

On sunny days, I find myself just staring at the VO. It glows in shades of bronze and gold and becomes irresistible to my eyes. I can't think of another paint color among all the charcoal/silver/blue/brown, etc. which has ever been as compelling. It feels like having a show car.
chaswyck commented:

Go with the kid. I had a 335i in MG. Nice color, but it certainly doesn't stand out from the crowd. I wanted to get away from the greys, blacks, dark blues so it was either MR or VO for me and as soon as I saw the VO, the decision was easy.

I was responding to uberspeed who wrote, "The kid in me wants VO, the adult wants MG. BRG reminds me of Jags, I should watch old Top Gear episodes just to reminisce." The thread is about the color of cars and it appears that he was talking about Mineral Grey versus Valencia Orange for his car. I know what an MG is, but in this case MG was Mineral Grey.

Chaswyck, welcome to the VO club. Some have said they would get tired of the Orange, but after 3 months, I actually like it even more than the day I picked it up. One thing about it is that, unlike black or white cars, it is easy to keep clean. This is my first orange car and I'm loving it. Lots of compliments on the color, probably because it is so rare.

BTW, Road&Mtn, I'm definitely not young (but not old either), but wasn't making the connection on what BRG meant when I first saw the article. It's one of those things that you when you find out what it means, you say to yourself, well duh.
