Jaguar XE World Premiere in London - Who wants to go?

Jaguar XE world premiere - is this the BMW 3 series killer

How does an all expenses paid trip to the world premiere of the all new Jaguar XE, a 3 series competitor, in London sound? The star-studded event will mark the unveiling of an all new driver's car from Jaguar. The new Jaguar XE evolves the concept of the sports sedan, a segment that Jaguar created over 50 years ago with iconic models like the Mark II. Which Bimmerfest.com member will be among the first to witness Jaguar's new XE on this exclusive trip?
  • Sunday September 7th - Arrive in London and enjoy a hosted dinner
  • Monday September 8th - Bespoke London experience - Jaguar XE World Premiere at Earl's Court One. Performances by Emali Sande and special guests
  • Tuesday September 9th - Departures
  • The winning nominee will get airfare, transportation and accommodations, plus a once in a life time experience
  • Nominations due Friday August 15th by noon.

Nominate a Bimmerfest.com member (self nomination allowed) with a post about why they'd be the best to head to London and review the new Jaguar. Social media and writing skills a plus. This all expenses paid trip is open to all US residence with an E90 or F30 3 series (valid passport required for travel). While at the event keep us updated with your social media channels (FB, Twitter, Insta, etc.). When you return write up the experience and your feelings on the new XE as a 3 series owner. Jaguar wants to know what a real 3 series owner think of their new XE and we're sending someone from Bimmerfest to find out.

Read more about the Jaguar XE

Post your nominations now, one nomination per member so make it count. Make sure you tell us why this member would be the best to go to London and see the new Jaguar XE! Nominees should have social media presence and the solid writing abilities to share this great experience with Bimmerfest.com.

I nominate JSpira without hesitation. His writing skills are top notch; even a quick perusal of the Bimmerfest European Delivery forum and the Frequent Business Traveler website demonstrates this.

Additionally, JSpira:
  • has owned or leased at least ten different BMW 3-Series cars over the years;
  • is exceptionally knowledgeable about European automakers and about Europe in general;
  • has contributed to the Bimmerfest community for over a decade.
If I'm not mistaken, JSpira still owns an E90 325i. And it goes without saying that he has a valid passport. That's an ideal nominee in my book.

I also nominate JSpira. However, if he cannot go, I nominate myself only as a second choice. I bring with me experience writing quite a few articles on the articles section of another car forum website. Don't worry, I no longer write for them because I now have a U.S. spec F30. Further details about my writing experience can be provided.

Nah. I nominate Saintor. Not only will that Jag be released with 4 cylinder, but 4 cylinder DIESEL at that. Nobody will trash it as thoroughly as Saintor for the sake of our BMWs.

Now, if you want some realistic writing and weighted opinion, of course send JSpira ...

If nominated I will not run and if elected I will not serve.

Of course, none of that precludes you from flying to London!

I'd be happy to go, and offer the following qualifications:
  • 10 BMW's so far (and counting), so I have some perspective on BMW AG's offerings. These included an E93 M3 and a (current) F31, so I know the segment.
  • Also 3 Mercedes, 2 Porsches, and 2 Audi's in my past lives, so I have some perspective on other European luxury brands.
  • I spent over a decade instructing for Mercedes Benz and Porsche Club, so unlike many journalists, if there is a track day I won't embarrass BF by rolling the new XE into a mangled ball of alumininium and bespoke hides (like the F82 introduction chronicled here)
  • I have been to London several times, know which way to look when crossing the street, so won't embarrass BF by getting creamed by a lorry or double-decker bus.
  • I know some fabulous pubs for bangers and mash and fish and chips, so can offer helpful guidance to other Yank invitees.
  • I will bribe Tim and the other BF mods with shirts from the REAL Pink's, other accoutrements from Jermyn Street, or maybe some Duty Free Bombay Sapphire.
  • When I hear "football", I think of Aston Villa and QPR almost as quickly as I think Patriots.
  • I learned how to say "Jag-You-Are" from Jeremy Clarkson, so I won't come across as some ignorant Yank.
  • When necessary, I can even say "aluminium". See point #3 above.
  • I can pronounce the "H" in "schedule".
  • I know the difference between Tata and Ta-Ta's, and am fond of both.
  • My passport is current.
  • I am not on a No-Fly list.
  • I can write in whole sentences, with (mostly) good spelling.
  • I have a fondness for classic British sports cars and saloons (the ultimate crumpet catcher, the XK-140, Aston Martin Lagonda and TVR are all high on the list).
  • I have a proven ability to consume Indian food without excessive flatulence. Which will be appreciated by the other journalists with whom I share the Jag.
  • I've been told I look like Clive Owen. (Or maybe it was Rowan Atkinson? I forget).
  • I know the appropriate use of "bollocks", "wanker", "bleeding" and "sodding".
  • Did I mention I will bribe the mods with gelt from Jermyn Street?

Bump! Any more interest in a free trip to London? I would have thought everyone would be jumping all over this.

Jaguar is paying for the trip so it makes no difference to me. If you're interested in going throw your hat in the ring

The problem is that most of us, including me, are very busy. It's a hardship to schedule such a trip.

Adding to that is that it is a journalist's assignment. I would be happy doing it but also realize that it is a mission, not a shopping and museum filled vacation. (dum dum da da ...your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves collection and analysis of top secret information on the new Jaguar, a potential threat to the F30.......be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your mission....This message will self-destruct in 5 seconds.....dum dum da da)

Besides, some people may be waiting until 11:58 am to submit a last minute bid!

Jspira is in the lead! Since this is not a vote and because jspira has multiple nominations, I'd like to change my nomination to a self nomination. That doesn't mean that I'm not cheering for jspira!

It is more of a fun trip then an assignment (but I will disavow all knowledge of your actions), you're going with other enthusiasts, not journalists. I'm hoping you have such a good time that you want to share with everyone, not that you have to.

I love writing and I would enjoy it! I'm sure jspira would, too! Jspira, where are you hiding? I know you post!

I even wrote about auto glass before and had fun. Ask me to write about plumbing and heating and I wouldn't have a clue nor find it very interesting. This mission isn't anything like plumbing.

I would love to go but probably would not be able to get my passport in order by then (plus set things straight enough at work for me to be gone a few days) and I have zero "online visibility" (don't participate in any "social" programs/apps/networking sites) or journalism skills.

My uncle is a lifelong, rabid Jaguar fan and loves to poke fun at me with BMW jokes so I could definitely see myself having fun with this. Someone is in for a good time, that's for sure.

Anyone else think the front of that car is very M-sport inspired?

My guess is that there won't be a chance to drive the car. It is being held at Earl's Court. Too much traffic. At best, maybe a drive in a circle indoors, but probably not even that. Besides, it's scheduled to be sold in the U.S. in 2016 so it's possibly not ready.

I self-nominate as well!

Long time E46 owner on E46fanatics, but now have an '08 335 convertible, JB4 but otherwise stock.

I have experience writing for www.guysgab.com and have all that FB, IG, twitter ready to go

http://www.guysgab.com/kawasaki-demo-days/

I have no problem taking the time off work, frequent international traveler (London in 2013), and being Asian, 30s, lawyer in Texas, I probably cover 50% of their demographic!

#jaguarxe

Thanks Tim!

TIME IS UP! And the person selected for the assignment is..........is it jspira?????? Is my prediction right or am I a horse's .............

EDIT: I've just read that Jaguar is sponsoring the same trip on a Jaguar forum and that they have selected a winner! I've also read up on the event and have become familiar with Emeli Sandé (correct spelling).

EDIT: Oh no!!!! I am a horse's ***. I have been selected for the mission.

Travelogue part of it has started on Twitter @MeAndMyWagen

The part about the car will be presented here on Bimmerfest.

I did it this way because not everyone is interested in seeing other people's travel photos. Twitter will have travelogue and some tidbits of the Jaguar XE. Bimmerfest will have the report about the car!
