///M Initiation - Epic M4 drift commercial filmed at Bimmerfest

by Tim Jones on August 20, 2014, 9:09 pm

The first-ever BMW M4 was welcomed into the BMW M family by navigating through a thrilling, one-of-a kind course created entirely out of current and classic BMW M vehicles sourced from Bimmerfest fans. BMW enthusiasts from all over the country volunteered their BMW M vehicles from every generation to be a part of this exclusive experience, including an ultra-rare BMW 1 Series M Coupe.

With 52 total cars, 4 race cars and 11,566 horsepower, precision drivers Matt Mullins, Chief Driving Instructor, BMW Performance Driving School and Chris Forsberg, Formula Drift Champion, put the BMW M4 through the specially-designed course that formed the shape of a BMW M Series logo - revealed at the end of the video.

The 2015 BMW M4 Coupe is powered by the same 3.0-liter inline-6 cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology as its M3 sibling. The BMW M4 Coupe features increased performance levels that distinguish it from previous generations of the M3 family, delivering 425 horsepower. The BMW M4 Coupe will start with an MSRP of $65,125.

I saw a video of how this was being shot. I believe this is shot in an empty parking lot with none of those cars around and those cars are added in the post processing Still looks great though!

Actually, two of my friends had cars that were in the video -- a 2013 M5 and a 2014 M6 GC. The cars were in the lot and the stunt driver drove around the cars. My friend with the M6 GC had a Go Pro mounted on his car for the video. No photoshopping there. They are both lifelong BMW enthusiasts who have attended many of the same NYC area meets that so have and I was very happy for them that their rides were chosen to be in the commercial.

Not true. Trust me, I was there, my car was in it and one owner almost crapped his pants when they had to do multiple takes on the final sequence. This is real.

Okay maybe I saw the video of the driver practicing in the empty parking lot then they put the cars in.

He did a lot of practice runs by himself to get warmed up. Once he was comfortable and the tires were ready, he approached the formation and went to work.
