Is BMW already working on the F8x M4 Competition Package?

If you are an M4 owner looking for some extra performance but don't want to look to the aftermarket, BMW may be working on something that can help you out.

Like the E9X M3, the M4 may be getting a Competition Package. No details have been released about this yet, just a pic from a twitter account, that shows an M4 test mule with some camo in place, taken in upstate New York. The Competition Package for the E9X M3 lowered the ride height, tuned the dampers and stability control and boasted larger wheels. We can only speculate that the M4 Package will do much of the same. Maybe we'll see something along the lines of the M5/6 Package with some extra power added and an exhaust to enhance the M4 sound. Going by the pic, there could even be some styling bits involved, maybe a revised front air dam for better cooling, side skirts and rear diffuser, maybe even a change to the roof (kevlar?), given the placement of the camo. We'll just have to wait and see what comes of this. I'm sure there will be a lot of interest when it is announced. Have a look at the pic.

Yes they are probably.

Similar to the M5, there'll be a LCI in a year and ZCP. That being said, ZCP won't be as comprehensive as the one in M5. Simply because a) The car is pretty good in its stock form whereas M5 got really bad reviews regarding handling initially and b) Nobody would pay $7,300 for a ZCP in the M3 world. So if I had to guess, they'll have more aggressive Active M differential tuning (software), dropped ride by 1cm, and different wheels. They'll price it for $3000-3500 and call it a day.

They are coming up with MPE sooner and won't be adding an exhaust as nobody will pay for the MPE. The M5's MPE came very late and was priced very badly so the ZCP exhaust made sort of sense.

It'll be nice if we can buy it post-factory - my SA is checking right now on the MPE factory availability
