BMW 5 Series a Top 5 finalist for 2017 World Luxury Car
In conjunction with the New York International Auto Show, The World Car Awards recognizes the best car of the year in multiple categories. The 2017 BMW 5 Series has been selected as a top five finisher in for the World's Luxury Car category
This announcement kicks off the countdown for the 2017 World Car Awards (WCA) ceremony to be hosted by the New York Auto Show on Thursday April 13th.

This year marks the fourth consecutive year that the WCA has retained its ranking as the number one automotive awards program in the world in terms of media reach.
A jury of 75 distinguished international automotive journalists selected the following finalists by secret ballot based on their evaluation with each candidate as part of their professional work.
The 2017 World Luxury Car will be chosen from one of these top five finalists:
- BMW 5 Series
- Bentley Bentayga
- Genesis G90
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class
- Volvo S90 / V90
The three obvious brands on the luxury car list are facing increasing pressure from the up and coming Hyundai Genesis brand as well as a resurgent Volvo.
The BMW i3 made the top five list for the 2017 World Green Car as well. BMW was noticeably missing from the World Performance and World Car of the Year category. Both categories had strong showings from Audi.
