Also in July you'll be able to order 19" M Double-spoke wheels - style 664M w/all-season run-flat tires (29W) and 20" M Double-spoke wheels - style 668M w/Michelin Pilot Super Sport non Run-flat tires (22E). And for anyone wanting the full digital display cluster, the 12.3" Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster (6WB) also starts in July 2017 production.

The new 2018 M550i order and pricing guides have been added here - http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=964919

Finally! A decent set of tires can be had from the factory. Can't believe how long it took them. I just installed the same tires on my F10 550i and I am extremely pleased with them.

Good news - BMWNA Listened.

Bad new - why so long?

Just read the ordering guide. 22E adds 300 (the space saver spare). I hope that can be removed easily and trunk volume restored to original level. Definitely wouldn't want to carry around that wheel.

I am really pissed that these features/options were not available when I ordered. My M550i gets into Baltimore tonight. I really wanted the 668M wheels and the full dash.

If it wasn't for my 2014 550i lease (ended May 5th but extended) I would have waited until July.

Haven't gotten the car and already disappointed at how they are screwing early adopters.

Maybe I will reject the order and buy something used while trying to find another dealership allocation.

Can't blame you. That totally sucks.

Maybe it is just tight supplies on these components while they ramp up on production. USA is one of their higher volume markets.
Still an awesome driving car.

I would reject the current car. There's no way I would ever buy a car with that Sensatec dashboard, ugly half digital dashboard and without the 688 wheels. You can rent a car for four months. It's too much money to settle when your desired options will be available in 2 months.

May I ask what is wrong with the Sensatec dash? If I understand correctly, it is a upholstered vinyl dash instead of the moulded urethane dash, isn't it? Frankly, if they were going to bother with upholstering the dash in something, you'd think they'd use leather and not vinyl.

They could have used the smooth richer looking material that they used in the F10.

Yeah, I hope the BMW dealership here in Kansas City doesn't get too pissed at me. There are 2 dealerships here. My current lease is through dealership A but I ordered my M550 through dealership B because of a better deal. Then after I placed the order dealership B came back with a better offer on one they had already build. And now this.

Anyway, I will discuss with BMW financial but who knows how that will go, not sure what they can really do. Maybe neither dealership will want to give me an allocation

I would talk to the general sales manager of the dealership and not BMW financial. They will sell your car without a problem and you will be able to order another car without a problem. At this price range, I won't settle. That's why you ordered and didn't buy off the lot.

That is a good suggestion. I placed the order 4/1/17 and will probably get vehicle in 10 days or so. I just asked one of the dealerships if I could place a July build with an allocation and they said they already have 3 in line for July production and since they won't all get pulled at once there could be delay... pushing possible delivery to December/January.

That would be crazy. I already extended my current lease and just want to hand it over since the mileage is getting up there. The inconvenience to wait another 6-8 months potentially makes it not worth for me. I'll see what the other dealership says.

Why would BMW do 3 half-assed months of M550 production and then starting in July do it right? I am also concerned about the value of the pre-July vehicles.

To clarify, it does look like the 12.3" dynamic digital display will be an option moving forward for $350 and also requires the executive package for another $1200 so it isn't included for free.

The dealership is going to paint my wheels 664M wheels black at my request. Doing bluestone with black kidneys, black trim pieces, black nappa interior, and tint. Hopefully it looks good and I forget about all this nonsense when I see it.

Sensatec does not bother me but I do not know much about it. I am leasing so the extra purchase of rims that I preferred was a no go. This all said, my initial order was placed at the dealer in late March! So I had a June delivery without the rims I wanted; so, I figured late August early September works. I have a car to drive but if I did not, seeing the M550's on this forum, I would take one and be very happy. They are all cool.

This is exactly my point!

I realize this is a first-world problem that I really shouldn't complaint much about. I feel very fortunate to be able to spec out a car for the first time.

If I find out I can take delivery in August with a July build I will re-order. If it could be as late as December/January I just can't/don't want to wait that long.

If I wasn't coming out of a BMW lease this would not have been an issue. Too bad the fact I already have a leased BMW is making this experience so much more complicated.

@JBApckfan: I'm in Kansas City as well. I assume you ordered through Baron BMW? They said they have 4 allocations when I talked to them a couple weeks ago. When your car comes in, can you give me a heads up so I can go see how good it looks?

Also, do they get new allocations after the initial allocation? How soon and how does allocation work?

Hey swimdng0! I leased my current 550 through Baron but then I switched and went to Kansas City South to order the M550 because they negotiated a better deal with me.

The issue at Baron is not the number of allocations but that they don't "pull" all the builds at the same time. So if they already have 3 builds for July but BMW only pulls 2 of them to start production, then that third build can wait much longer. At least that is how I understand it. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I can let you know when the car comes in.

I just had my M550 for 2 days and I'm not upset anymore about the dash. I don't think I've looked at it once. The LED in the windshield is all I need (just like others have said).

I also made sure the dealer put all-season tires on my car.

All the other extras are not really that important.

So, if you think about it a little, maybe you can use this as leverage to improve your deal; but I'm in the same boat as you and I'm not the least bit upset about this news.

Looks like Exec package needed then pay for full digital. So standard Europe and Canada - $1500 option for USA. Interesting....

I would not wait 2 or 3 months to get these two items, the early M550 is the same car as the july production.
Digital dash? Who cares?
Different wheels?

If wheels are the only change, is not worth waiting

It looks like leather dash (instead of Sensatec) is a $700 stand alone option, while the "Dynamic Digital" cluster adds $350.. And the 20" 668M Wheels, with PSS's AND a spare only add $1,100 to the sticker. Nice. Can't wait to see some of the new colors.I bet Rhodonite Silver over Tartufo will be stunning.

Coming from a 2014 I am sure to be very happy with what I ordered. I just have a bad taste in my mouth about how they offer many more choices 3 months later. Seems like they could have offered them from the beginning without pissing off early adopters. Idk, maybe BMW always does it this way.

Not good for the early M550 adopters. But for people with "lesser" G30s like me, this is something to look forward to in 3 years when my lease runs out - because the Panamera is just too damn expensive in any trim level.

This is the reason that when my F10 lease was coming up (in March) I opted for a G12. I just didn't like the choices available for G30s, and figured I could get a good deal on a G12 for 3 years (I did) (plus they picked up 4 lease payments as I took delivery end of November) and then return to the 5 series.

How do you get loyalty $2k and 3 waived payments?? Will an AARP membership still qualify for a corp fleet discount?

Not correct. I have Individual Merino in my '14 535i with standard, non-ventilated seats. Where are people getting this information? Or did they make some mandatory change in '15 or '16? I still don't know why people want holes all over their premium leather seats.

It is always that way if you early in the cycle. It's risk and reward. It is great that BMW is improving 5er even it is too late for me. The advantage for the early adopters is that incentives and lease rates were uber spectacular. I am quite pleased how it worked for me with March 6 order.

you could get Individual with both types of seats in 2016 for example. The weird thing is that the ordering guide now seems to suggest that luxury seats can only be ordered with Nappa leather. That is probably a mistake. There are other obvious mistakes in the new order guide, such as references to non-existing option codes.

My M550ix just arrived at the dealership... Naturally I'm very upset about this news. However it won't make sense for me to reorder due to the much worse lease term now (and even worse starting June 1). I will take delivery but this whole bull**** is really making me reconsider my loyalty with BMW.

Does the color of your individual Merino seats extend to the floor and carpet? I noticed it does on the 7 series and really like that look.

How do you get loyalty $2k and 3 waived payments?? Will an AARP membership still qualify for a corp fleet discount?

Would love to see the carbon black with Mocha seats. That would be my choice!

If you mean the carpet itself, no, it is black like the rest of the trim pieces. I like the black contrast, like with several "regular" interior colors.

Ok I see. Built a couple of 7s with individual colors and the same color extended to carpet and matts. Thought that was quite striking. Assuming 540i gets same color selections I plan to go Merino this time - probably Tartuflu (probably spelled that wrong)..

"Tartufo" is Italian for "truffle". Here are a couple pics of my Amaro Brown Merino.

That's gorgeous, Mark. The color looks almost indistinguishable from Cognac.

Thanks. Yes, they are very similar. I think my impression on seeing Cognac the couple times, it is a tad lighter and perhaps slightly more saddle/orange, but very close.

That is very sharp - thanks for sharing. I assume everything I see in Amaro color is leather?

Well, as noted before, the F10 Individual was called "extended", not "full" leather. So some pieces may still be non-leather, although I have not identified them. You can notice the console has additional leather pieces on the sides, and it extends to the rear cabin area. The lower dash area is leather, and is nicely stitched and tailored. The door pulls (not leather) are backed with black trim pieces, which I think is a sophisticated touch. However, I see that is now included in the Cognac Dakota, and I think I noticed that in some pictures for another Dakota trim color, maybe the Dark Blue. With the SensaTec dash option in G30 (included in Luxury and MSport), the console front section ,where it meets the dash, has inserts of upholstery color, rather than an all-black console. So these touches make the standard Dakota and Nappa, closer to Merino, in the additional appearance, other than the leather type itself.

Here's an additional shot of the back seat area, and lower dash.

Thanks much, this further convinces me to go with Merino leather. Adds a touch of elegence especially since I intend to order luxury model..We'll see in July if options are same as M550.

I found some pictures of Individual Merino in the 7-series, and the seats have even more quilting/sewing patterns than G30 Nappa. I wonder if the 5 will look like this - it was kind of "wild". I would expect the Individual paints and leather for the '18 540i to be the same as what we're seeing for the M550i. For F10, Individual leather was not an option for the 528i, so I expect the same for 530i.

Here's a 7-series picture from the configurator, but I think I had found a European BMW site with additional views of Merino and the stitching...

Yeah I built 740i on US site and Merino has extensive quilt design. For $5500 comes with the black headliner and multicontour seats. Toying with ordering 740i but will probably stick with G30..

I'm not exactly sure but the MSRP was 111895, the sales price was 99995 and there were $3400 of lease payments picked up. That adds up to about $15,000 off, which I thought was a good deal no matter how the credits were characterized.

I just didn't like the way the G30 options were being offered and did not like the color choices either. As it turns out there was also the trunk release fiasco. I'm happy with the 7. I am sure I will be happy with a G30 in a few years too. At $70,000 or 80,000 or $100,000 my view is you should get EXACTLY what you want, even if it means ordering and waiting.

I've been doing builds online for two months now on a 540. It has always forced Nappa if you want Luxury Seating on the G30.

I don't doubt that Nappa is required for ZLS. What I meant is that Full Merino is even more expensive, so it would be surprising if they did not also allow you to spend some more money on Luxury Seating. That would be quite unlike them

And the build doesn't have Merino does it? Don't rely on the online build. I'm certain that if you want multi-contour seats, ventilated seats, and massaging seats that it will be available with Merino just list it was available on the F10.

He meant the M550i configurator doesn't allow Merino with luxury seating. That probably is wrong.

I believe Baron is getting a carbon black with Mocha interior and the standard trim very soon. No buyer yet.

Your 80K offer was very reasonable. 1K over invoice plus their 5% holdback. He let you walk?

He was super nice to work with, but they don't have an allocation now for my order, he will have to fight for one. So not a lot of room for negotiation. I thought 80K was reasonable.
Will I be able to get an AARP corp fleet discount on top of my offer? This would be to buy, not lease. Not sure what other programs available.

Someone else is a better expert on the incentives. I believe AARP expires this month if it hasn't already. I also recall reading here that those incentives are paid through BMWNA, so I plan to negiotiate best price and then deal with whatever incentives are on the table this fall..
