The article says you can now order a 2018; however, I don't see options and pricing info anywhere yet. I've also been in touch with my dealership and they have no build sheets or info yet either. Anyone else have any luck?

I know the information should come out any day now; however, I've been planning this purchase for a few years now and waititng these last few days is getting painful, I just want my M240i already haha :-)

Ordering and pricing guides came out yesterday. My equivalent build went up about $600, so I'm happy with my 2017 that just entered production this morning.

I looked at the ordering guide and I see that a backup camera now comes standard,which was about 700 before if I'm correct

That would be worth it for me for LED headlights, touch screen, available jet black wheels, active cruise control, etc. I took delivery of my 2017 about 6 weeks ago.

Yes and no. Before the back up camera was $900, but it also included the parking sensors. The camera is now standard for all 2018 models because of the new federal requirement; however, in the 2 series the sensors are still extra. So if you want the sensors, you have to add the $800 park distance control package which also adds the parking assistant. By adding this package, you are saving $100 and getting the parking assistant for free which was previously a $500 option.

My 2018 build came out to $50 cheaper and I get 2 additional "free" options based on the new packages. I'm glad I waited as I will now get all the minor improvements of the LCI and a few other extras for the same price.

I just negotiated the price of a 2018 M240i with 4 dealers. "Winning" out the door price is $45,800, including all taxes (Virginia car sales tax is 4.15%), registration (~$100) and Virginia safety inspection ($16). Now, the only options are:
- metallic paint
- leather seats
- HK sound system
- manual tranny
- sunroof delete.

I'll be ordering the car today from BMW of Alexandria. He will be my 5th BMW, and his name will be Gerhardt. I'll donate Fritz, my 2001 330Ci, to WETA, the local PBS station.

I am looking forward to exchanging ideas and recommendations will my fellow 2-Series drivers.

I ran thru the math on this based on the new 2018 pricing guide and assuming a $995 delivery cost same as last year. I am also assuming MACO and training costs to be same as 2017. The MSRP would be about $49,170 and your purchase price would be thousands below invoice. Let us know if you really get an order at that price. I am looking to order one myself in the near future, and am very interested in what others are paying.

That is the price! I ordered the car this morning, in person, at BMW of Alexandria. The price includes everything, including taxes and the delivery charge. I think I got a very good deal. I played 4 different dealers against each other. BMW of Alexandria came through with an additional $2500 discount at the end.

The best I could do was 5 percent off according to manager,even after waiting 10 months for delivery on a 240.i would like to know if that. 5 percent is all they have to work with

Grey, try another dealer. I live in the D.C. metro area where sales volume is important. What I did was send an email to the sales manager at the 4 closest dealers asking for their out the door price. I played one dealer against another by telling each dealer what another unnamed dealer was offering.

Remember, dealer's invoice price is NOT really the dealer's cost. BMW NA holds back $ for each car. When the car is delivered BMW NA sends the dealer $$$.

I know the bidding war strategy works well for many; however, I got what I consider an excellent price on what will be my first BMW by working with one dealer.

After I wrapped my head around the pricing aspect, my next area of research was local dealers as I had no clue who to use. I first tried using the closest one; however, I didn't care for my CA and felt the dealership was not very honest. I then decided to do a lot of searching on the forums to find feedback on my local dealers, read online reviews, talked with other BMW owners that I know in the area, and then I picked a local dealer that had a good reputation for a second try. Let me say, finding the right dealer is very important, as it was a completely different experience compared to the first dealer.

Using the pricing calculations I configured my car, calculated the invoice vs MSRP pricing, and then contacted the dealer I picked. When discussing pricing with the dealer, I was open and honest with how I got my numbers. We used my calculations as a starting point for negotiations and then went back and forth a few times. I was able to get below invoice (per the calculations) on a 2018 order plus apply my applicable incentives. If I calculate my percentage off MSRP, it is much higher than 5%. In the end, it was a smooth process and I believe both parties were happy. I got a very good price, and my dealer knows that they have a satisfied customer who will use their dealership for service and potentially a future BWM purchase.

I know there are many different strategies out there for how to negotiate, and each person tends to prefer one. My suggestion is to educate yourself as much as possible on the pricing before you do anything. Then how you use that information depends on your preferred strategy. I don't like to contact many dealerships and get them into bidding wars, as I believe this takes a lot of time and doesn't necessarily get you the best price. That being said, some people swear by this strategy, and if works for them, awesome.

If you have had a bad experience with a dealer (which it sounds like you have as I have followed your story throughout the forums) then I would suggest trying another dealer. But before doing that, I would do some research on your local dealerships and pricing if you have not done so. Being well informed and working with a good dealership is very important to getting the best price.

I don't claim to be a pricing expert, but thought I would share my experience, as I am very happy with my experience to date. Now all I have to do is wait for my 2018 to show up. Good luck!

Did they actually have allocation and estimated build dates? They were all status 105 when I spoke to my dealer earlier this week. My 2017 build got cancelled so anxiously awaiting and as others have said same options costing less for the 2018 build due to the package changes.

I have the same information from my dealer that 2018 production allocations have not been distributed to the dealers yet. I believe we are all in the same boat where we have negotiated deals and are just waiting for allocations to place actual orders. My dealer said that anyone giving date estimates this early are just speaking from typical production patterns from prior years.

After a long wait for several factors, I ordered my 230i with THP, Msport, heated seats (was a requirement for the Mrs.) and moonroof delete. The software the dealership seems to have some bugs in the 2018 model optioning that did not allow for THP and MSport to be optioned together, so we did it on paper. There was nothing in the ordering guide that should/would preclude the two from coexisting. Hope it all ends well, will follow up. As a developer, I should have known not to trust week old software . I was able to get the car at invoice plus all the taxes/fees which are horrible here in NC.

The estimate was 6-8 weeks, and stated I should get a VIN in 10-14 days. I hope so, I pre-qualified at a decent rate which is only good for 30 days. I do wonder if I follow through whether I can defer the loan until I take possession. I will keep you all posted, was yours a 2017 build or 2018 build?

Your dealer can request an extension to the deal you made (incentives, etc) based on the delay in builds. For example I'm getting the $1k Conquest incentive that is due to expire 7/30 but am being told they will be able to honor since it will in all likelihood be post 8/1 until the car arrives. Same hold on residuals, etc although one would hope the 18 rates might be a bit better once they are released.

That wouldn't even get me the adaptive LEDs, just the base LEDs. I have the adaptive LEDs on my F32 right now and there is a HUGE difference from the base LEDs to the adaptive LEDs.

I may be in the minority here, but I am extremely against touchscreens in cars. It just seems like a HUGE safety hazard to have to look away from the road to hover your finger over an icon you can only see, not feel. BMW's iDrive system with the rotary controller is fantastic, why do you need a Prius-like touchscreen? Just my 2 cents.

I ordered the ferric grey instead of the orbit grey 436Ms, so you know my stance on black wheels .

ACC would be nice, but I also have three pedals so it's largely irrelevant.
