BMW wins CarIT-Award 2016 for 7 Series Remote Control Parking

BMW took home the CarIT-Award in 2016 for the all-new remote control parking feature that comes on the new BMW 7 Series. The German magazine reviewed technologies debuting in the past year and found BMW's innovation the most rewarding.

A jury of experts have endorsed the innovative power of BMW. Technologies which were given their debut in the last year were eligible for the CarIT-Award 2016 presented by German specialist magazine “CarIT”. And the Remote Control Parking system, which celebrated its world premiere in the new BMW 7 Series, was crowned the winner.

BMW is taking to the stage at the 2014 Paris Motor Show with the latest results of its ongoing model push, revealing even more ways to experience the brand’s hallmark driving pleasure.

World premieres of two new models: the BMW 2 Series Convertible and the new BMW X6 are the main attractions. Also on display in the French capital are the new four-cylinder diesel engines for the BMW 5 Series, an exclusive special edition of the BMW 7 Series luxury Sedan, and innovations from BMW ConnectedDrive. Paris also provides the venue for the French premiere of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and groundbreaking BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car.

The launch of the G11 next generation 7 Series is coming soon. BMW has been out testing prototypes again, this time in production body panels. While still heavily disguised the final form is starting to be visible.

The biggest changes will take place beneath the skin with the 35up platform. This new platform, which will also underpin the next gen 5 series, is super light weight using technology from the BMW i3 and i8. The G11 will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2015.

The next generation 7 Series has been known to be using some lightweight material to save weight but now we are hearing about how significant that weight savings may be.

Rumor has it that the new 7 may come in even lighter than the entry level 5 Series which would be a huge weight savings meaning better performance and increased fuel efficiency.
